A Frosty Night | Wildcamp, Wildcamping, Camping | Mourne Mountains

Wild camp number two and what a cracker it was, this week I am joined as usual with Stephen and Neil who is back out on the camping scene. This time we decided to pitch up in the valleys of the Mourne Mountains, a spectacular sunset we had which lead to clear skies once again but tonight the temperature dipped leaving a crisp frost glazing the tents for the first time. Sunrise did not disappoint again as we broke down camp and frost quickly melted away leaving us to pack away and leave no trace in morning sunshine.
Check out @stephensophietracygrace626 cracking night/star shots during this video, absolutely stunning and worth the effort, and as a always a big thank you for the thumbnail 👍.

    Cheers Gerry. It turned out a wee bit chiller than expected but we got through it. That cookie was gorgeous I could go one now with a mug of tea. Fair play to stephen he does take great photos and he would sit up all night to get the perfect one. We just love being out at the moment, thanks for watching 👍

    Was out myself on Muck Friday night, beautiful but it was baltic in the wind, just about to drop my vid. Like yourself, I do be thinking about what I need to take and what system I’m going to use, rarely forget stuff due to that. Not one for the extreme wind on exposed summits, but have the gear for wet and not too exposed camps, with family life I like to get out as much as possible, when I get the opportunity. If I’m camping high, usually try to reduce weight and take dehydrated meals or boil in the bag (usually leftovers). I do enjoy my grub so do like cooking and cooking over a camp fire is fantastic.

    @@BestlifeWildCampingBushcraft cheers for commenting 👍. Yea it was a chilly one down low I’d say it was cold enough on muck (I will watch yours today), we done muck on a summer’s evening last year and had a cracking night. I would worry for days about forgetting something but I’m trying to think now as long as I have my tent, mat and sleeping bag anything is a bonus after that. I really like the food on your videos, something about cooking over a fire. As for weather we try to play it safe enough, no point in going out if you can’t enjoy the surroundings. I look forward to watching yours on muck. 👍

    I have my bag packed nearly a week out, then swap and change as the days go on and I overthink everything 😅 Only bring cooking stuff if I know it’ll be a short trek, if it’s a real wild one then sambos and snacks it is. Great vid mate I enjoyed it! Done hares gap recently, very steep lol but great views

    Hi Ryan, yea I’d be in the same boat, check, check and check again. But I’m getting to the stage now if it the sleep system and tent is there I’m happy. I might actually drop the cook system the next one if it’s not a long hike like you say, hares gap is a nice spot for camp we done our first one there. Cheers for watching and commenting 👍 very much appreciated.

    Nice camp m8 , seen your lights on from the top of meelmore 😂. Answers to your questions lol 1. I forgot my burger baps last camp 😂😂 2. I have a vern 1 😜. ( weather doesn’t bother me have been in pretty naff weather a few times 😂😂) 3 . Food - I go with burgers mostly and sneak my 1.5kg cast iron skillet in the m8s bag 😂😂 Was chilly enough but we had the luxury of 3 fire logs the m8 carried as well 👌

    Hi Dave, thank you for commenting. 😂 😂 burgers baps, at least you didn’t forget the burger, it could have been worse, I might try a check list for my rucksack and just tick off as it goes into the bag. I have noticed you have the Vern, looks a great tent, did you see all that stuff about it last week on KZread 😂, as long as you have the right stuff and enjoy it I say go out and do it. We are trying to get the pack lighter but I’ll never be a ultra light back packer. Stephen and Neil said they seen lights near the water house on Meelmore so it must have been yous but I might have been fast asleep or trying to keep warm in the tent. I will watch your video today at some stage. Thank you for watching 👍

    I’m new to camping in NI and planning to go on a solo camp, have a couple of questions. Do you have your pay to hike and camp? For toilet number 2 what do you guys do?

  • @GeoffGreenawayOutdoors

    @GeoffGreenawayOutdoors

    25 күн бұрын

    Hi Collette. For paying we would park and pay at the likes of Meelmore Lodge, Carrick Little and Banns Road (need to double check banns road) for overnight parking as it keeps the car safe, as for paying to hike and camp no we would hike in from the car park and camp hopefully tucked away and far enough from the trail. As for going to the toilet, we bring a trowel and dig a hole about 6 inches deep, cover it and leave no trace (far enough from rivers and streams as you don’t want to contaminate the waters). If you need any other advice just ask I will try to help as much as I can. Hope you have a wonderful time camping ⛺️ 👍.
