I'm so sorry his age is catching up to him. Hoping little Ace gives you more years to come and that his treatment goes well! Aging does suck, but having senior pets is what I call the "Golden Years." They just want pampered and cuddled, like they are babies again and that lifetime you have spent together shimmers in their eyes.

And some people wonder why owners will value their pets more than a human who might do them harm. “They are just animals” they say. Once you’ve known an animal for a decade (or almost two in my lucky case), they are 100% family and irreplaceable.

Having had a 4 lb teeny dog for 21+ years, I know your love for him runs deep. And he IS adorable! And pretty darn smart.

@@RaccCity55 I'm a devout foodie & having IBS is a drag. Everything I eat is trial & error. I have to eat something & see how it affects me. I can only imagine what a doggie might be going through. Other than having everything go out the way it came in or rolling on the ground from the stomach pain, how would their humans know what is wrong? Poor baby, boy.

Yeah, I have similar issues (not clear if it's IBS, but I have GERD and possible Gastroparesis), and god is it the worst. I can only hope he'll be better, because god are GI issues not fun.

We found an old ailing yorkie dumped in our yard several years ago. He had multiple issues of (only having) 4 rotten teeth, damaged jaw (old break), starving & skinny, flea infested, blind & smelling like an old musty basement. It took months, but thanks to a group of dog rescuers & fostering friends we got him healthy and happy. After 4 months (& about $1400.) he went to live with a retired couple with their 2 small dogs. That little guy was around 14-15 years old when found in such bad shape. But he bounced back and loved every moment of being spoiled and the king of his surroundings, all 6 pounds of him . He managed to enjoy life with them until about 6 weeks ago, around 17 years old.

My little 10lb (now 18!) gremlin is a burrower and when we met my BIL’s future wife for the first time (he was about 10), for some inexplicable reason, she decided to wake us up at 6 am (not a morning person, me or my little guy) by jumping into our bed…right where he was tucked up next to me. My heart stopped. My husband thought that he was going to have to dig a hole in the backyard about the size and shape of a female human from the look on my face, and he was 100% right. I had known her for about a day but he had been my partner in crime and snuggle buddy for a decade. I flung back the covers and she had narrowly missed him by inches. That was how narrowly my BIL escaped being single again.

Hoping the best for the little man! My dogs (both siblings) just turned 15 recently! They're definitely showing their age though. Just gotta give them as much love as possible!
