In 2010 the care package was more prevalent to be honest. No one uses it anymore.

The people that are saying this is fake because the cookies are okay 1. Don't understand physics/packaging design. and 2. Zipline is losing money on it. Every single one of these operations is running at a loss, they're basically publicity stunts rather than a serious business model. Think about it. How does the product end up at the drone base to begin with? Someone has to take it and deliver it. They could just deliver it to the customer's house instead far cheaper.

That being said if it was scaled up properly with centralized distribution for giving area it might become viable. But in that case I probably wouldn't use a fixed-wing drone I would use rotary wing for accuracy of drop location.

They are used in Rwanda to send blood to hospitals. It is better for them to have a central hub and send it out as needed by drone than to store blood in the hospitals and transport the blood on their roads. The time it takes for the drone won’t really vary all that much compared to the time variations a car or truck could take, especially if the roads are bad.

just needs slightly larger parachute but i think they do it on purpose to get a more accurate landing cause to big of a parachute or to slow of a decent could cause the package to land way off target.

trees aren't the play for a desert. MOST varieties take a lot of water that simple isn't present. You need to manage the water first and foremost, once you create water capture THEN you can focus on the more basic species that can survive in more harsh environments. Also need to break up the hard compacted dirt so water can soak inside instead of run across.

I think it's the same system from zipline. Delivering medicine wasn't the original plan. It's nice to see a company pivot towards a goal that makes a real difference. Very cool stuff

UPS has been remote drone dropping for several years.... mostly medicine and vaccines to remote places, where several types of travel, (Plane, car, and boat) are involved. An example would be medicine to the small islands off of mainland African continent. Pretty cool, been doing it for years though!

My grandpa is a vet he works for them 😂
