I hate things that are terribly out of place....and mic boosters....well, they can get in the way.

I can't believe I'm 71 and been doing electronic stuff all my life and I've never thought of cutting cables at an angle to make them easier to strip!!!

Got to tell you about this. Bought two mics off Amazon less than ten pounds each. Look like a lewit. Says 240 pro on microphone. They are rubbish. I only wanted them for the bodies. So took them apart. Took hours. All glued together, double mesh glued front and back. Then hidden screws as well. The reason I am letting you know is. When I got it apart. No circuit board at all. Tiny little capsule hidden behind the round mesh. Going straight to the xlr. The best bit a lump of pot metal shaped to fit the bottom of the microphone held in place with big sticky pad. very heavy. Noticed a few sites have them. So let you and your readers know. My friend said other microphones have had the metal trick as well. Love your channel. Keep at it. I have put my own guts in them and they are great for me.
This is truly an Obscure Mic. Sounds great, given me ideas to show the kids some basic electronic circuits and the difference at the end. Great work.

I think it was a great idea. That would help the M-Audio interface to keep you away from the jump at the top. 👍🏻👍🏻
I love it. Keep it up. These mods are more useful than people think. I am always messing around with mine. I have loads of cheap new mics to play with. As you say cheap ones available online Love your channel.

this is phenomenal! i appreciate you! i realized that "Mic Boosters" are just phantom powered circuits. i just took the chip from the aokeo ak 60 and wired it into my sm 48 and it works and isnt as gain hungry now. keep that other circuit you took out of the condenser! its technically a mic booster as well 🙃🙌

Great vid. I did this with a neewer mic. I want to make one now with twin xlr on the mic. So no booster or booster plugin to second socket if you know what I mean. Keep at it. Love your vids.

Now I'm thinking of turning non-mic objects into mics. A flashlight maybe? Put some nice grille material where the lens was.

Only if you have a circuit board for a condenser capsule that will fit in the mic body
Sounds pretty decent

So would this be possible to convert a USB mic to XLR by attaching direct to the condenser capsule ?

Good question! Let’s find out by way of a video
intørnals of the microføn
The obvious question is how does it handle EMI. If you look at some of Bandrew's tests on XLR cables he uses a simple cell phone to test electronic interference. Ridiculous, genius, or unusable. !

@@ObscureMics Hello. Great video. Could you please do an update on what other Mic Shell(s) should be bought since the one you linked is not available anymore? What dimension should the shell be so the capsule and other stuff can fit into it? Perhaps there are other suitable shells out there which are just as good but a different brand. If it's possible an aliexpress/banggood/etc. link would be great for those whose Amazon is too expensive because of import fees and shipping costs.
