Podcast and Voice Over mics don't have to be expensive! On Obscure Mics, I will demo and review microphones that are not exactly the most talked about on the interwebs. Will I discuss name brands? Shure I will (get it?) ....but the OBSCURE shures. From no names, to discontinued, to downright dismissed...I will help you find the budget mic that may be perfect for your mic locker. Also, if you have found an obscure mic and want it reviewed, by all means get with me and send it on over! Thanks for watching, and feel free to email me at [email protected] for inquiries.

CM25 is way harsher.
how about cobalt series? co11
Ive wanted to get some of the cobalt series. In the plans for sure
@@ObscureMics cool! I'll be waiting
@alexshel8578 appreciated!
Great review. I'm going to get Maono PD400X in the future (waiting to go on sale or lightning deal).
Solid tank of a mic
two things . . . I heard no difference that couldn't be attributed to the two takes . . . What do you mean digital inteface and analogue interface? There are all analogue on the input and digital into the computer? Please explain what was what please
3.5mm trrs vs usb connection Easiest way to distinguish them imo I could’ve said on camera mic I suppose
@@ObscureMics Gotcha! Thanks
The AG06MK2 is a great little mixer that doesn't get nearly enough recognition. The only issue I have with it is that the Windows control panel app is a straight port of the smartphone app. It absolutely sucks on the desktop and I hate using it. Unacceptably lazy implementation on Yamaberg's part. Also, I wish that the "Reverb" and "Comp/EQ" (or "Amp Sim") buttons were assignable because I have two mics plugged in and I want to switch the mic processing on and off on channel 2 like I can on Channel 1, but I can only control the amp sim state. Come on, Yamaberg! Get your head in the game!
Yeah that is the one thing I don’t love…lm able to overlook it simply because I’m always the only one recording in my shack, so the comp and equipment on one is fine
Its like one of those crap V8 sound cards but with sliders XLR, fantom power and an LED display. Otherwise the options and even the samples are the same
Nailed it. I’ve seen it under 3 different names so far 🤮
what in the actual hell is this thing?! Who is this for? I cant see this being useful for a streamer, podcaster or musician. Its a toy.
A METAL toy !
@@ObscureMics 🤘
Nailed the ending.
Yesssssssss
Not sure what happened with the cropping on the 2nd half of the video, as it was not cropped in editing 🤔🤔🤔. But as jar jar would say, meesa don’t care anyways
😂 funniest review I’ve seen in awhile, I have to clean my monitor cause I spit my coffee when laughing 🤣 and sprayed it. Dangerous 😂
That’s what I like to hear!!
Using this comment btw lol
I like you. You make me raff.
You had me at “glorified sound card”. One of my favourite niches in audio is your exasperated reviews of sound cards masquerading as interfaces and mixers. This one is a disastrous gem - thanks for the entertainment!
That makes me very happy that the “category “ is appreciated
"This is not horrible. It's just kinda bad." LOL
Sad but true
Lol this is Good Bark! But funny thing is the gear coming out now is Overkill for majority of new podcasters 😮💨
Cuda!!! How you doing!? You are correct. I have been using a Samson wireless usb mic for a lot of my stuff lately and man I love the lack of cords and bulk
I've reviewed a couple of these cheap interfaces and they all sounded pretty similar to a real interface as in sound quality but I can definitely hear a pretty big difference between this and what you were originally using
Massive difference. This is why the monitoring is important lol. No idea it was THAT bad until editing….. it at least sounded fine with dynamics and condensers in the right spots PER THE DEVICES QUIRKS
Is this the strangest thing you've reviewed?
It’s up there lol
What's the best way to use this and record video from your iPhone at the same time? Thanks!
IF your iPhone will recognize this as a digital interface with a usb C to lightning cable, that is rhetorical way. If it doesn’t recognize it, the. The 3.5mm out to a lightning headphone adapter. Both should work…again…the usb c to lightning being the best…and that should work and the device will use its battery for power
You’re the man! I have both the adapter and interface coming in tomorrow and was unsure if / how it would work. Thanks! 🙏
@@JMMULLINS should work pretty seamlessly. The shure motiv video app or the Blackmagic camera app is a great way to monitor your levels in the iPhone….highly recommend both. Let me know how it works for you!
Can you do also some camera/recording gear? For example Comica linkflex ad3 or Tascam CA XLR?
I just made an “on-camera” playlist thanks to this request, and have a LOT of on camera gear in the works Thank you
I just ordered mine yesterday and am hoping it is as easy as everyone says it is. I'm new to recording and this looks great
It really is quite easy. And this just cuts out so much of the extra connections and devices needed to start basic music / voice recording
@@ObscureMics Awesome. Thanks for the great video
Thanks for watching
Hahahahahaha!! The end!!!
I mean... really good for a fun video... so hahaha
The Tank3 sound is incredibly clear but a little lightweight for my taste. I like the old fashioned deep warm sound, better represented by the k688 or Shure SM7B. Unfortunately the K688 I purchased broke down within hours so I am on the hunt and open to recommendations.
The freeworld mic I have a video on is a decent option, as is the xtech….both on my xlr/usb playlist
😅😂😂
Moving to Bum F&*K no were.. Good Luck
What model of shockmount do you usually use with the sm58?
Sterling sm5
@@ObscureMics Thanks! Unfortunately, it's not available in Spain. I'll keep using the chinese version. Greetings!
It may be discontinued here as well
I could hear a differential
What was said differential sir
After you mentioned your other channel and how dangerous it might be for people to check it out, I got scared. After watching it, thank goodness you didn't break my heart you beautiful person you
Oh hey thanks! Always a risk to share thoughts and opinions in today's world
Hi there! Do you know if I would be able to record from a Roland SPD SX to an iPad DAW with this? 😀
I'm 50/50 on the iPad being able to power it. I would say unlikely
Oh....unless it's a usb-c iPad
@@ObscureMics it is a USB C iPad! Would I be able to use sounds I have saved on the SPD SX? I mean, they would play on the CAD the same way I head them through the drum amp? Thanks so much for getting back to me!
@cachofett yep should work then!
@@ObscureMics thank you! I’ll give it a shot 😀
The issue this mic suffers from was common with a lot of mics at the time that had a great linear circuit combined with a nearly perfectly cloned K87 capsule - the K87 has an extremely high 8+db push at around 10k with a fairly wide Q, corrected in the U87 by a filter cap (onboard EQ). You can mod this mic physically with a .02uf cap or just do a high shelf in your DAW of around -5db at 11k that tapers off until flat at 1k, and you’ll have a nice clean U87 ish sounding mic. Especially if you get the Jim Williams Australian original with top shelf audiophile components in it. Similar to how the proximity effect changes your impression of the harshness by boosting the bass and low mids, cutting the highs like this (what the U87 achieves with the filter cap/ “EQ”), you will reveal all the sexy mids and low end this mic actually had. If you remove the filter cap from a U87, you’d have one nasty sounding mic with a hefty price tag!
That's fantastic information I feel a lot of mics from its time period could undergo a similar treatment with fantastic results
$70 I would not pay for it, but $35 ok. Scrap the cable and lower the price Movo.
☝️
I just put a bid on one of these because of this video
I really like the form factor and it's priced right. Not sure if I wouldn't just bite the bullet and get a 57 instead tho, if I was looking for a compact dynamic.
Oh I’d 100% get a 57
It looks similar to the Logitech Yeti GX.
It kinda does indeed
Btw I’ve been hearing about the MXL 2003A as a mic you can find for around 50 bucks used that supposedly punches way above its weight. I think MXL’s are super slept on and they have some amazing microphones so I thought I would just pass along the heads up
Too wooly sounding to my ears and compared to, what Ithink you started the video with which is the the SM58 I’m not down for this one
Yo... pump up the mic, pump it up, while your feet are stomping.... (make my day reference... I see what you did there! LOL I had to put my on spin on it.) Technotronic and Rammstein references in the same MIC review... we ARE jamming... LOL Thanks for the review and making my day a little more fun!
🤙🤙🤙
"It looks like a big Tylenol!" "How 'bout some coffee, Johnny?" "No thanks."
😄
Sounds descent, not feeling the look of it. Looks like the podcast mic off an oompa loompa.
This quite compact and just a tad odd
So possibly a slight volume drop (like only a db or two) w the behringer. The impedance difference between going direct and using the behringer MIGHT be slightly different in the low end but its negligible and wouldnt matter in a production. Im hungry… gonna go get some lunch and a free icecream cone.
I have a few of these for live sound, bands at parties. They're awesome. The high boost sounds a little sizzly all by itself but it's there to help cut through dense mixes. For a sparser, more intimate arrangement I'd grab something else - the D89 instrument mic is more natural sounding, and the dirt-cheap D38s (3 for $50!) are somewhere in the middle. Love CAD, my whole live sound mic collection cost less than like 3 sm57s
I got a three pack of the d38s for $29! The 89 I may have to grab!
@@ObscureMics 89 is my favorite dynamic mic at any price
@zakkacreman well now I have to have one
I'm so tempted to find a lathe and make my rk-12 swapped stellar X2 a wood end addressed with a custom grille...
I’d want the link to that video ASAP
