A discussion scene can't get better than this
#marriagestory #videoessay #scene
Today I bring you a video essay conducting a detailed analysis of a brilliant scene such as the argument scene in Marriage Story, starring Adam Driver and Scarlett Johansson, directed by Noah Baumbach. We discuss cinematic language and how bodies are distributed in the scene to accomplish a perfect job of blocking and composition. The title may sound like a response to Thomas Flight, but it's just a nod.
In praise of exagerated and not subtle performances

Damn bro, didn’t know Marriage Story was chill like that. First time I saw it it made me feel things but it’s nice to analyze the little details that made it work.
So... I had an issue with the video quality. Sorry 🥲 I promise the next one will be better. As you can see, I just started this week so I would really appreciate the support for the channel :)

Dude don't apologize. Your content is absolutely amazing especially regarding you just started out. Keep going please. And if I'm allowed to say that: Please don't become one of those people who just become judgemental of stuff they don't like? It's really refreshing to see somebody go into detail so much about how stuff is actually made. There aren't many channels that do that at all and there sure as hell are even less that do it well.
Man thank you for getting into KZread. Videos on just my favourite media, expressing things i felt while watching in words and concepts I would never know. Man I hope you'll keep making analyses of this quality and keep enjoying it for a long time!

Wonderful analysis. You should do this more often.
this is such a good video. should have millions of views
love your work!!!
The weirdest thing just happened. I enjoyed a video and I managed to like & subscribe without the narrator having to remind me to do so. Go figure. 🤯
great video man. you have a good eye for cinematography techniques but i would like to see you explain how the shots and composition ties in with the narrative more often. Otherwise you're just explaining what the director did with no additional commentary. The times you did do this however where very well done 👍
It goes back to the days of plays, its easier for people to read over acted and over voiced performances. In modern times, they reflect more what it feels like in your head than actual reality. You have every perfect word and response.

I know this isn’t what you’re implying, but performances weren’t overacted because of people not understanding them otherwise. It was so everyone could see and hear since microphones and speakers weren’t a thing even though they were smart enough to develop theaters that amplified sound. I find it kind of interesting that you can see this overacting in older films where they only had a single microphone. Everyone talks at a near shout just so they can be heard by the single microphone dangling above the set. Had to get that brain worm out of my head.

@@lemonmouth3241 Though I get this point about the microphone, what comment above stated can also be true. In the old times, acting jobs dominated in the theatre and radio, so they were heavily depending on what to say to the audiences and how to say it in the most clear way, so the audience could get it. Also, it was because of how young the industry was. They just didn't use the cinema aspect to those limits of today, that cinema is above all visual medium. It's the same with videogames. Just look at some old game from the 90s and compare it with games from today like The Last of Us.
keep up the good work bro, maybe do a video on the social network? or goodwill hunting?
I really like your videos : )

Thanks bro! I just uploaded a new one today :)
This movie was literally the story of my parents/family only that I was 6 and heared all of it and my father was physically and psychologically abusive towards me and my mother and a lot poorer (actually my father was insolvent and lend money from the Mafia to pay his bills just to run from them). Well, maybe just the emotions I felt during this movie did remind me of the divorce of my parents 🙃🔫
I buy your argument, and it's an incredible video, but you need a third party to serve someone a lawsuit, so while that scene may be an example of the use of an awkward intermediary, it's legally necessary. Either way, amazing analysis! I particularly loved the birds-eye-view 3D model of the set. Genius!
'These sons of a b-' 😂😂
Nice job! Have you considered the exaggerated acting in Andrzej Zulawski's Possession?
Brilliant - This is my third - catching up.
