Hello Ana! For a long time I had given up on myself because none of my paintings were beautiful haha! But the things you said and talked about in the video put me at ease and it was good to know that I am not alone! Actually, I don't do portraits or figures, I'm a landscape artist, but I enjoy watching and listening to you while I paint. I'm usually one of those people who give up halfway and start a new one if my painting isn't getting better. If nothing good happens in the painting, I used to think that it could not be forced but after that I will take a break for a while and try to go back to painting. Normally I would gesso my panel in minutes and either try something new on it or keep myself away from painting for a long time. Thank you for this beautiful video I wish you a nice day! 💜

There’s definitely times when I quit on a painting (not because I gave up) but because I realized the painting I’m trying to do or copy is far from my understanding to put together. Painting really teaches you so much about your own mind hehe it’s so much more than just paint. I’m glad this helped you in some way 🤗✨

Thanks for the Inspiration! I am currently painting a Sargent Mastercopy called “Lamplight Study”. Like you, I find it very challenging with her Face. I cannot seem to get her mouth correct. Thanks for making me realize not to give up. Have a Fun Day! 😊

Hi Anna, long time time no see dear friend. It is good to see you back and still painting in oils. Hope you have been keeping well. I have been learning to do portraits on and off too and I like the idea of visiting the local library for inspiration. Hope you will succeed with painting female portraits. You should stop doubting your ability to paint. Perhaps your looking for perfection and this is why you doubt your ability. I love watching you paint and you are an inspiration to many. Also please note that sometimes a painting may not go as well as one would like and this happens to the best at times. It's knowing how to correct it or to accept with all its flaws and keep on doing what you love all the same.same as we all improve over time. Love this video😊👍🌹🖐️

I just want to let you know that there is a video by Ben Lustenhouwer that demonstrates how to paint a portrait in oils and thought you might like to take a look for yourself. You may have to do a KZread search to find it. But it offers in depth advice some of which may be helpful for you in your aspiration to achieve a good portrait likeness.
