i'm just starting the video so i don't know of you name it after... it's not really fantasy but i don't know if y'all have seen **AMC's interview with the vampire (2022)**, literally the BEST show on TV right now, and i say this both biased and unbiased. it keeps the esence of the books taking away a lot of the weird shit anne rice wrote. also they made louis, claudia and armand people of color and it enriches the stories SO much. Plus the creator, producers, writers, actors and everyone involved LOVE the source material and are very critical of it making it SO good. I highly recommend it, for gays and freaks lmao. Season 2 is airing right now. but beware, the OG fandom can be very racist, so try to join the not bigoted part of the fandom!

@@Destroyer3212-gv2ss i don't really engage with racists like you but just letting you know i have read 7 books in the vampire chronicles and i still think the series is amazing. since i am not a racist, i don't hate changing races in media when it comes to diversifying white people... shocker to you, i guess. also of course i wouldn't like poc characters being swapped for white people, that's called whitewashing and its been done a lot.

@@captainbaekho but by swapping white characters to poc characters that called blackwashing

Book to movie adaptations is not a new concept. The majority of older movies were books prior. We just didn't have the same widespread commentary regarding them. Things like, Wizard of Oz, the godfather, the shinning, Charlie and the chocolate factory, Waiting to Exhale, Gone with the Wind, psycho, to kill a mockingbird, the count of monte cristo, etc. All were books before becoming movies, though most of us only think of the movies. On top of all that, they were made when movies weren't made in mass the same as they are now. We just recognize it now because there are more readers. Disney fairytale movies were all based off of books. Agatha Christi books have been adapted to big and small screens for decades, so have the Sherlock Holmes books. Add in all the Shakespeare movies and remakes like the Lion King and ten things I have about you, and Jane Austen with clueless and all the 90s adaptations, as well as the famous BBC miniseries. Then, we also had all the comic book and video game movies from the 90s and early 00's that have been both successful and flops. We just notice more now because the books being adapted are more modern and we have the social media to talk about them.

While I would eat up another era of romance books becoming a great tv show, I’m so scared because ACOTAR is high fantasy that it may be too cringe from bad special effects. I really don’t believe Hulu is willing to put budget it takes to get into it.

I desperately need someone to make the Queen's THief/Attolia series by Megan Whalen Turner into a TV series. Or at least an audioplay. Just something, it's SO GOOD and NO ONE KNOWS ABOUT IT

Are more books being adapted or are we just more aware of it? I’m reading a western for June on the Range. I have a vintage copy of a Louis L’amour that was printed in the 70s. The author bio said he had seen 31 of his works turned into movies.

There are no Percy Jackson movies. Only Peter Johnson movies (the show is AWESOME btw).

I'm glad I'm not the only one who will perish if they fuck up Legendborn lol. I wasn't sure I'd like the book when I started it, thinking it'd be shallow fantasy YA, but godDAMN, I love being wrong😁.

Books aren movies/tv shows and movies/tv shows aren't books, they each have their own strengths and detractors based on the medium. You mention LOTR and GoT as being faithful adaptations but tons of characters and plot points were removed to streamline the experience, which I would say was for the better. In Julia Quinn's case a lot of us didn't know who she was because the stories were typical bodice rippers, the closest thing they had to diversity was having a brunette love interest. Blindly stating that tv shows and movies have to remain 100% faithful isn't it, what's the point in adapting a piece if there's nothing new? Just read the book.
