@Not Alfie "Have you ever considered that maybe George RR Martin has a different arc in mind for Jaime then the one you expected and envisioned?" Of course. But that doesn't add up. George has spoken at length about building a character up in a certain way and paying that off, rather than changing things just because readers have figured out what he's going to do. He hates any authors who do that, because to change something like that betrays everything which was meant to be built towards.

You guys are so funny. There's 10 times more foreshadowing of Jaime dying with Cersei than Jaime leaving her. Just because the story doesn't have the happy ending you were wishing for, doesn't mean it was bad. Jaime was never supposed to stop loving Cersei. They said 20 times during the show that you don't chose who you love and that they had a special connection. That "Redemption arc" was just what you guys were wishing for. This fandom is so childish,

Beauty about Jaime is that he is a mixture of his 2 siblings. What's even more interesting is that in the start he was 90% cersei and 10% tyrion and by the end it's 90% tyrion and 10% cersei. Layered like a lasagna.%
Jaime Lannister is one of my favourite characters in Game of Thrones. Nikolaj Coster Waldau played the role so well. Mad respect for this man 👐 Happy GoT anniversary to you all my fellow World Of Ice And Fire fans 🍷
I have said it before and I'll say it again, Jaime Lannister is and will continue to be the most complicated morally grey character who's messed up but is basically an unsung hero. I wish the ending was better, but it made a lot of sense! And I really see it as a part of his character vs what most people feel that it destroyed his arc!
In my opinion, he’s still redeemed. I believe that what he said to Brienne before he left was a lie so that she might fall out of love with him so that his leaving would be less painful in the long run knowing that he was going to die. Cersei might’ve been evil, but she’s still his sister and just loved her more than his quest for honor.

To be honest, i think he was the only character that keeping his identity from the start to the end. He took a bad reputation as king slayer to save the people in kings landing. And he just loved his sister no matter what kind of person she is..so he decided to standing next her until the moment that death was coming.. yes he may not a typical stereo type hero, and he did many bad thing for her sister. But he is still the best character in Drama ver.
When Jamie rode in to Winterfell and removed his helm didn’t everyone think he looked like the living version of every Disney prince (charming) ever? I certainly did 😍

So he stopped being well written in episode 1 when he pushed an innocent child out a window? Jaime was one of the better written characters through all seasons of the show. His love for Cersei was always going to be his downfall, as Lady Olenna correctly predicted. He was a man who valued honor and at times did the honorable thing, but he was also deeply selfish and valued the ones he loved above all others to a degree that was destructive. He was never going to end up “a good guy” and ride off with Brienne simply because some fans wanted that.

@Not Alfie He killed king Aerys to save innocents. That line made 0 sense.
@MatiZ815
3 жыл бұрын
@@Samuel-ut7mj I never had an impression like he cared. He did what's right when he could but that doesn't mean that he would put his own family over the lives of strangers. His one defining priority through the entire show has been his family. Everything he did was for the betterment of their position and that never changed. In season 6 he says to Edmure that he would slaughter everyone at Riverrun and I believe him but somehow no one was complaining then even though what he said there was far more savage. At the beginning of season 8 he says he regrets nothing and no comments from anyone too. I really don't see how Jaime in season 8 contradicts what we know about him and I don't see how trying to save your own sister carrying your child is a wrong thing to do. I never thought that Jaime's story was about redemption but more about being more than people think you of.

I'll always stand by my belief that Jamie returning to his sister wasn't a bad thing ... He was obsessed with her, he loved her ... completely. I never once thought he would permanently stay away from her. Plus his ending didn't erase all the progress his character made ... it just meant he was still hopelessly and stupidly in love.

I disagree, I think Cersei was like a drug addiction for Jamie and like a drug addiction made him do terrible things to sustain it. I believe his arc was partly about overcoming Cersei, only then could he regain his honour. It makes sense Jamie would try and rescue Cersei, there is a duty to his family and his own child, but the way the writers went about it made no sense. I think for book readers its a bit more frustrating (despite the ending not being written). In the book, Jamie abandons Cersei to the sparrows, burning the letter she sent begging for help because he realises just how awful she is and how awful she makes him, the reason for him going back into his old addicted ways must be a good one, the show doesn't give a reason.
