I was going to say the same. The dialogue starts out with every line having some meaning pertaining to the plot and characterization, clearly backed by a book. It progresses into sounding like someone let an intern write their dialogue. Just crap, a waste of good actors, money and talented production crew.

It's even better in the book. There Tyrion talks to Varys last and the eunuch already knows that he told Pycelle he intends to ally with the Martells and told Baelish to broker a marriage alliance with Lysa. Tyrion tells him a different lie about Dorne, that he wants to send Tommen there. Varys acts like he believes this and doesn't know Tyrion's true intentions with Doran, and Tyrion is happy about the outcome of their conversation, but the text doesn't actually make it clear whether or not Varys really fell for it.

What writer writes better than George? People have wild expectations. It took George so many years to come up with the dialogue, besides that he’s extremely talented. Audiences really expect hired writers with limited time to come up with legendary dialogue.

@@VonJay If Eli Attie, Debora Cahn, Lawrence O'Donnell, Lauren Hissrich, and John Wells could eventually figure out how to write The West Wing at NBC without Aaron Sorkin (and they *did* figure it out after a season or so), I don't think it's too much to ask a team of writers at HBO to figure out how to write GoT without George - and they failed at it for basically 3 full seasons.

It’s not too hard, you just need to repeat the lines over and over again before the scene and believe that you aren’t funny. The repetition helps ignore the words, and often comedy fails if the character knows what they are doing is funny.
