In this episode of DIY Willy it’s a good day! Willy changes the oil for the first time on the 2011 Chevy Silverado. Of course the oil has been changed many times throughout the 12 yrs I’ve owned the truck but I never did the service. The service was always done by the dealership. However the local dealership has changed ownership in the last few years and well the management sucks! The actual work done to the truck was good and I can’t complain but since I don’t like the management side I'll stop going to them for service. Time to start my own service work on my 2011 Silverado.
So follow along as we continue to repair and upgrade our 2011 Chevy Silverado.

I've been using 10-30 Pennzoil Platinum full synthetic + a qt of Lucas oil stabilizer additive in my 4.0 xterra just to try to keep the timing chain from wearing out the plastic tensioners. Got a little rain up here in Mojave desert but not much.😊

Hello, Lou-eye, I think my next change will be 10w30. I did give it an extra qt this time. Right after the engine started making noise like the lifters were sticking. Hopefully things are ok.
Aren't you in S Cali? You could go up a step in oil thickness. If you do use 10W30. It is slightly thicker both cold and hot than 5W30. The minibikes get no thicker than 5W30. A couple seasons ago I had 5W20 in my stock 196 bike. It spent most of its 6 plus years doing 10 minute rides and is fairly low hour. The oil never gets hot enough to need thicker oil. A few months ago I opened it up and built it. Looked amazing inside on teardown. It got its break in with 5W20.

I definitely want a thicker oil. Next time I’ll try it 10W30.

Do whatever it takes to avoid the RZR ! On the other hand getting rid of the Suzuki simplifies your life a bit.

I’m not avoiding the RZR.. This video was filmed in June, long before we had the RZR. I have the RZR stretched and weld back together. Looks really good. Content slows down as we approach the holidays.
