You should not be outside after dark. Trash cleaning of pumps should be done on second shift. I am a Manager at a gas station and I will not allow my employees to be outside after dark unless it's an emergency

I will do it at night when there are well known regular customers around are if the local PD are parked in the lot which is everyday. Though a Guy got shot doing trash about 1 mile away from us.

For the amount of tasks you have to preform, you should be getting paid no less than 15-16 dollars an hr. Most gas stations pay 10-12 or 13 an hr but, imo it's still not worth all the crap you have to do and all the stupid people you have to deal with on the daily as well. I would NOT recommend working at any gas station unless last resort.

I've been working at speedway for five months. The cappuccino machine and the cheese is almost exactly the same as is the soda machine boxes. I don't use a cutter I just punch it and rip the box open. The door at our store doesn't make a loud noise when someone comes in so have to always been vigilant and check frequently when someone comes in. Our checklist is much longer now. I'd say probably close to 40-50 check boxes.

My goal was to get most of my stuff done by like 3 or 4 o'clock in the morning. Then I would sit down and take a little break but sometimes you don't have time to do that. Even when it's slow you could just stop for a second and get something to eat. Make sure that you eat before your shift so you're not hungry in the middle of it if you can't stop.

I worked at shell in Australia, We not only have to serve the customers, also accept deliveries for milk, bread, sandwiches, more milk deliveries, pies, and logistics, mark everything off invoices and put them accordingly, plus sweep/mop the floors, do the bins, restock the fridge, restock pies after 4 am for the morning customers, as soon as it's 5 am we can go out on the forecourt and change the outside bins, and also do the public and staff toilets cleaning them up, do temp check, perishable checks and serve customers all by yourself doing these chores once you're done with, just 1 team member at night.

I have a female cousin who used to work nights alone. She told me she never drank or smoked bc there were so many sketchy characters she wanted to remain hyper alert in case she ever had to act quickly on her feet and/or defend herself. You can't do that as well under the influence.

You make a very valid point I don't disagree one bit. Even though I function just fine when I'm under the influence it's probably not the best idea. Luckily I've never had anything serious happen to me but I've had customers threaten me bc a refused a tobacco sale bc the customer didn't have an id.

If I didn't do everything on the list(didn't happen often) I would just tell my boss it was busy. She would check cameras to even see how busy I was. Symone Simmons honestly I would turn it in as soon as possible. It does look better to turn it into the manager but if the manager isn't available until Monday, I would just go in and turn it in before she comes back. So then when she comes in on her Monday she has your application right there and she can review it and possibly call you that day. I started out at 10 but also got my dollar premium for working 3rd Shift. I'm not quite sure what it is at that gas station cuz some are a lot different than others but good luck. Cups, lids, straws stocked. Keeping bathrooms clean. Stocking products, making sure there are no holes. UP SELLING AND KEEPING A POSITIVE DEMEANOR with the customers. Changing inside/outside trash as needed. So much more. Lots of running back and forth ! I’ve lost close to 25lbs in the year I’ve worked there. I love it though. Not enough pay for the bullshit we have to put up with in retail but it’s fast past and I love to talk! 😜 I have worked my share of 3rd shift alone and it’s all the deep cleaning. Barely any customers. I do not care for it! I love my customers! Also, I live in Florida and I’ve worked through two hurricanes.. LOL. Talk about interesting. Running out of fuel completely. Fist fights in the parking lot. Working damn near all 3 shifts in a day yourself. Because almost every employee has quit on you! Your manager involved in a car wreck during all of that so she’s just gone and there’s no other manager they can send to “fill in” so you and your other assistant manager just bullshit your way through everything.
