A Day In The Life | Working at a startup, career change, ChatPRD and more 💕

Working at a startup has been an AMAZING experience.
ICYMI, I started working at ChatPRD recently, which is a startup created by Claire Vo (3X CPO, current CPO of Launch Darkly). I wanted to document a day in my life as the Head of Growth for ChatPRD because it's a very cool position that I have enjoyed and grown so much in.
If you're interested in product management, I highly recommend you also consider looking into working at startups. They allow you to learn all facets of a business which is a critical thing for product managers to do too. I also think that if you are already a product manager, you should totally consider working at a startup some day. PMs are generalists, which is exactly what you need to be in an early stage startup. Some days you're a marketer, other days support, other days product and other days sales. It's a whirlwind but it's also SO MUCH FUN.
Hope you enjoy this DITL, I'll definitely be creating more product-centric content in the coming weeks, so stay tuned!

Hope you enjoy this video! Working at a startup has been a ton of fun and I've already learned SO much. LMK if you have any questions about working at an early stage startup! Also - can you spot the typo in this video that I was too lazy to fix??

So cool to see what you’ve been up to! ChatPRD has loads of potential-I love how your awareness video about it (which even beat Lenny from Lenny’s podcast) was the indirect spark that got you this new gig. Can’t wait to see what comes next!

Hi Alisa, can you do a video on severe burnout and also talk about what a product person can do if they are in a state of disorganization and is just lost in the moment due to stress and burnout. How can they start fresh immediately despite the past things that might have been forgotten or not done yet? How does a product person get through too much deliverables without having any support?

For me I’m realizing if I can record my meetings as one step it will help as I can go back and relisten but the softwares that I like to use to record are not always approved and team members don’t really like their meetings recorded either but it helps me. So I don’t know what to do really.

Enjoyed this video a lot! Please do more "day in a life" videos. Also curious to know if you had doubts going into something new. I get these doubts a lot.

So happy you liked it! Always have doubts but nothing in your career is permanent, so usually worth trying something new and if you don’t like it, you’ll find something else!

Loved seeing your day. I can totally relate to the diverse work day when working in an early-stage start-up, and I also like it a lot haha If you don't mind sharing, what made you want to leave a big company?

Well it’s a long story as to why I left adobe, that might be for another video 😂 But I in general have a preference for smaller companies. I actually was only at adobe because the smaller company I worked for was acquired!
