I hated this character by the end of the third season. I wanted him dead. Which means he nailed it playing this role. Great actor.

It's always amusing to me when people tweet or even spit on actors in real life, that they hate because of a role they played. It is tremendous stupidity... but also an incredible accolade for the actor... although, if someone spat on me, I'd have a hard time saying "thank you for your compliment" as opposed to just dropping them.

Me too! I HATED him and was extremely pleased with his last scene in season 3. He did an amazing job making us hate him. And he brought depth to his character to make us loath him all the more.

Eliza Butterworth and Harry McEntire have some incredible acting skills. I 100% loathe their characters on screen, but off screen they seem like very pleasant people.

Yes I am so impressed by Eliza Butterworth. Harry is a fantastic actor but I do see some of his personality in Aethulwold. There’s no hint of Eliza in Lady Aelswith.

He is one of the best characters in the show, and the actor really does a superb job with him. You can't help but like and dislike him at the same time, with equal pity and disgust. That's very finely done. He literally stole the groveling scene, what an amazing development in just a few minutes. I think it is my favourite scene in the whole series, and I like this show very much. The other great character for me is Alfred. It's so unsympathetic that you start hating him but at the same time you understand that, in a weird way, perhaps that is how things have to be done. A very strong character played by another fantastic actor

Personally I feel like they wasted his character this season. It would've been amazing to see him rise in power and fight uhtred. They could've shifted attention off of athelwold and more on Cnut and Bloodhair instead of killing one of them. I like the show and this character A LOT but I'll just have to swallow this pill and keep watching

Great character. He has a shit ton of depth in the show.. You hate him, then you love him, then you hate him again, and repeat the process.

Maybe We are like that! Sometimes I wanted to punch him, sometimes I wanted to hug him. That is not fickle, that is responding to a character on a screen. And to evoke that response takes very fine acting

Harry getting mercilessly teased made me believe he was born to play Noah being endlessly slagged by Eunie.

dude’s a Xenoblade character now. turns out he can do some excellent voice acting too!

When he was punished by Alfred, his face going from relief to panic was some of the best acting I ever saw. I felt his fear.

The actors who play total asses on screen are always the nicest people in real life haha bravo performance man, nailed it in season 3!

She is really cute! :) seems to be a very sweet person IRL. Her character seems always so grumpy though xD But the actress herself is so lovely! Great to see!

Some truly top-notch actors on this show. David Dawson (Alfred) made one of the strongest performances of any character I've seen in the last several years. It's rare to feel so sad over a character dying, especially when it's known to be inevitable to the audience.

This dude slayed in this show! His character's change from being a drunken but witty fool to a bitter, throne hungry, treacherous man was great. Also, everyone slays in this show. It's one of the main reasons I love it. So well cast!

1:07 If he had shown up in any scene wearing sunglasses, it would not have seemed out of character.

I can't believe he is Noah from Xenoblade 3. Honestly made me have to take a double take when I saw his photos. Was flabbergasted

So this man will be the next Xenoblade Chronicles protagonist, huh? I'm looking foward to it!

Its so cool to see a behind the scenes of actors who play their role really good and seeing them being completely different offscreen

I loved Aethelwold a lot. He wasn’t the stereotypical devious coward. I got a very maniacal vibe from him and I think that is due to the splendid effort out in by literally everyone behind this wonderful show.

Aethalwald is just a good character, can't get enough of him

i love his big grin smile, and how Eliza really is.

When you either love or hate a characters that means they are damn good in it.

I feel so bad for the actors when their character gets killed off. They had a good run though, some of them. And Aelswith’s actress is hilarious and completely opposite of her serious character lmao

Ragnar punching him was the most satisfying moment in season 3

Æthelwold is 10 lbs of AWESOME squeezed into a 5 lb bag!!! He's always had Uhtred's back... Ever since last season, when Alfred sentenced them to GROVEL before the whole town, and he did for them both. Saving Uhtred the humiliation! That was a great scene, he did it like a BOSS! 😜

you can tell that this entire cast are amazing actors because of how much you hate their characters but love the actors. examples are harry and toby- aethelworld and aethalred respectively- especially.

Love this show. Jumped in and finished the 4 seasons in a week.
