Dewdrop Dynasty looks amazing! I've been working hard on my first game while also working full time at an elementary school, so I feel you. Of course, my game is much simpler than Dewdrop, as I've limited the scope of the project to keep the goal reasonable. What started as "Oh hey, this Godot thing sounds cool, I should try it out" eight months ago now has 8/12 short levels and 3/5 fairly complex boss fights! Btw, Goodgis, if you're reading this, I would love to hear more about how you developed your pixel art style. It's phenomenal, and I'm more than a little bit envious! Pixel art is super difficult for me, and I don't know how to improve. Any tips or resources to recommend? Thanks! Edit: lol nevermind, just found your video directly answering that question! You rock!
@Goodgis
Жыл бұрын
Thanks so much!
Amazing video, and I need to say, the game looks hella interesting, even if 'old-school' 2D games aren't my type. One question I wanted to ask, because I'm in a similar boat (full time job/two-man team): how do you tackle design-heavy tasks? I find that these take me the most time, and are the most blocking. I'm able to write code fast enough to test a theory, or make a quick level greybox, however designing anything (mostly levels) puts me in anxiety overdrive. Especially when things depend on a story, but I need to make parts of the game to feel more inspired, it becomes a catch-22.
@Goodgis
Жыл бұрын
Great question! And honestly I feel you. It can be super overwhelming, but you need to start out with a really crappy first draft of an area and refine it based of the story and what feels right. Hopefully that helps. Cheers!
@LoxagosSnake
Жыл бұрын
@@Goodgis Thanks, it helps! I think I just have to get used to the idea of throwing stuff away, and stop being stressed about writing a perfect first draft. Appreciate the advice!

As a hobbyist indie dev I feel you on the struggles of completing ur game. Im close to finishing a demo but Im stuck on the music/composer part.
