I skate and i developed during quarantine a “depression” putting it like that cause people don’t believe me sometimes since im young (don’t be fooled by my profile pic i was 7 on that thing) anyways to get to the point i kinda lost interest for everything i loved dont get me wrong i still love skating but i don’t know how to get motivated what could help for that?

As a figure skater myself, I look up to higher level skaters and try to be like them, but allow myself the mercy because a lot of them don’t struggle with the same things I do. Figure skating has genuinely helped me find my meaning and if I can help anyone do the same, I do.

When you have a chance, you should start skating anyway :) I was also "too old" when I started but I joined a club anyway and have never looked back! It is so worth it even if you're not going to skate competitively!

ur not too old! my mom started after having me and my brother when she was in her late 30s as a hobby. it truly made her happier than anything and has pulled her out of a lot of dark moments and she's quite good now! can do jumps and spins and everything. i myself did it non competitively for 13 years and it brought me so much peace. it's a beautiful sport for anyone who puts their mind to it!

You're never too old. I started 2 years ago at 21. I have all my single jumps as well as sit spin, scratch spin, sit tuck, back scratch, and camel (which is rough but getting better) so go ahead and try it! You've got nothing to lose.

I’m a figure skater and have been since I was four and I approve waking up is never easier. It always make me question all my decisions😂

I used to get up at 4.45am 5 days a week, then all day at school and back to training straight from school, 4pm-7. 6am (on the ice)-12.30 on a Sat, and 6am-11 on a Sun. Not including gym and off ice stuff. I honestly don't know how I managed it! Lol. I'm tired just thinking about it now! 🤣

ahh love this vlog! when you guys were trying double axels i think personally its easier for me to start a jump with more speed because doing a 2 axel in standing position is very hard so maybe you should try it with a backwards entrance or a 3-turn ! :)

@Julia Ganea have the rinks in Russia not closed at all through Covid? (I kinda suspected they wouldn't tbh). Here in the UK the rinks have barely opened. A few weeks all year at most. Only the elite athletes were allowed to return to train properly (after the big lockdown last March for months). It's been a nightmare for skaters and coaches.

When I started figure skating I was VERY inflexible but it took me around 2 months to get my split and 3 months to get my needle and back flexibility!

Might want to land a little more solid, but you look in great shape and your skating routine is perfect I can also relate to people getting in my way by the way I skate in intermediate freestyle Keep the great work up!!

I really want friends to go skating with bc I’m always on my own and get so anxious in case I fall so I can never really properly try to do stuff so I’m still so bad

im a dancer and oh my god figure skating looks so difficult i could never keep up the work!

I'm telling you, I HAD to comment. Potstickers are literally amazing and I literally cried when my dad bought some. I'm a figure skater too! I've been skating for 4 and a half years, and so far the most challenging jump I'm learning is a split jump. I got higher up skates too, I have the Riedell Bronzes and it's really hard to break them in. I'm also on a synchro team and I compete individually too. I'm also trying to get my flexibility and this was helpful! I hope things go well for you, and have a great day/night! :)

I wish I could skate but the nearest rink to my house is an hour away by car. I do have a license but is it that far for most people? I think that's a lot of driving. I'd love to hear other people's experiences.

@@elenaspano5067 I personally think that it's your choice! If you feel determined and responsible enough to really go to the rink and drive a whole hour to the rink, then why not? If it's something you want to try and want to make an effort, definitely go ahead. It usually takes me 15 minutes to go to the rink, but since your's is an hour, you might have to take time off too to go to the rink. I hope this helps!

@@moonrose8475 it does, thanks for the answer. It definitely is worth it, although the driving part is quite scary since I’ve only had my license per 6 months. I just stick to the right lane and let everyone overtake me hahahah! I have to leave at least an hour and half earlier but skating makes me feel like I’m flying, I forget about real life problems and get to connect with myself which sounds so holistic lol but I think it’s true and you can probably relate. I don’t even want to go to the Olympics I’m just doing it for myself, after years of mental struggling I finally get to quite literally break free. So it is definitely worth it in the end. Thanks again for your comment! Do you mind if I also ask you where you live? In Italy you can literally count very few rinks which is so so sad and the reason why I have to drive that much to get to the nearest.

@@elenaspano5067 I live in the Central part of America. Just to be safe, make sure you don't drive around night time, it's a big risk and I don't want you getting hurt. Make sure you tell your friends where you are going too, nobody wants to get kidnapped from trying to go someplace. My only concern is your safety for driving for an hour :)

And if your having trouble with anything and she dose the spin or what ever then you can just try slow it down and pause where your having trouble and hold something heavy and maybe hold your leg up or anything. I hope that made sense to you other wise just comment on her video and see if she dose any video about how to do the trick.
