A Conversation with Mark Booth and James Turrell

On September 15, 2013 the Spencer Museum of Art hosted a public conversation between Mark Booth, art collector and business leader, and James Turrell, the preeminent light artist of our time. A capacity crowd flocked to the museum for the event which launched the exhibition "James Turrell: Gard Blue."
This video features the entire in-depth conversation, covering topics related to Turrell's life, upbringing, work and recent retrospective shows at museums across the country. Following the conversation, the audience was invited to ask questions of the artist. This Q&A session is also included in the video.

This is very interesting. Learning can be so eye opening...not knowing what you don’t know and eventually graduating further to finally, hopefully gain unconscious competence.

IT IS WRONG TO SAY THAT THE LIVING PRINCIPLES OF THINGS ARE MORE REAL THAN THE THINGS THEMSELVES. YOU CAN'T SIT ON THE BLUEPRINT OF AN AIRPLANE AND HAVE IT TAKE YOU LIKE A FLYING CARPET FROM PHOENIX TO DES MOINE. AND IT IS ALSO WRONG TO SAY THAT THE PRECIPITATION OF MATTER TOOK PLACE OVER VAST PERIODS OF TIME. TIME HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH IT.
