James Turrell's Roden Crater

A short film about James Turrell's masterwork in process, Roden Crater.
The film was commissioned by LACMA on the occasion of the exhibition "James Turrell: A Retrospective" on view at LACMA from May 26, 2013 through April 6, 2014.

My favourite part was James Turrell saying "...My thought there is that it's important that you go alone, almost as though you are coming to a ruin, you discovered these things yourself... You go through it and these things are your discovery" This man is truly a celestial dreamer, for the sake of it. Amazing

This has blown me away with it's mathematical complexity and beauty, I've not seen anyone attempt this with this accuracy since the Egyptians, I have total respect for what he's created.

Fascinating! A friend just went to James Turrell's Green Mountain SkySpace in Colorado at dawn this morning for her 70-something birthday. It was an unparalleled experience, she said. Now, I understand a little more about James Turrell's work & hope to have the opportunity to visit a site. I'm in Vancouver, BC 🇨🇦
