I never even knew there was a 2012 film sequel. However when the trailer came out for this I had seen the info about it from a different KZreadr, and I was like wait there was a sequel? Then heard them say is was a poor sequel, so I don't plan on watching the 2012. I thought this was a solid sequel that was done really well while touching the heart of the original, while being something different to say we've grown up.

Not gonna lie. I actually watched that movie, only because Gary Chalk was in it. He played the mall Santa. For those of you who don't know, Gary Chalk voiced Optimus Primal in the original Beast Wars cartoon. And considering I'm a massive Beast Wars fan, I couldn't help but be curious. Unfortunately, not even Gary Chalk couldn't save that travesty of a movie. That's just prime.

In my mind, they did the original movie the justice it deserved. It was so much fun to see all of the familiar scenes and I loved the flashbacks!! All of the familiar music used in the right spots. Very cute!
In my honest opinion THIS is how you do a sequel to a movie that is decades old. just care and respect to the source material and NOT just in bringing back the original cast (those who could return that is) You can tell there was so much heart that was put into this and it didn't feel like a cash grab at all. I loved in how they did incorporate the old man into the story and it changes things in perspective now that you do look back and watch the original Christmas Story. It's essentially a double feature to pair with the original now. I really wish this gets a physical copy release.

This movie is a staple in my house, even my own dad would keep the 24-hour marathon running the entire 24 hours because at least our houses one rating would keep the tradition going 😂 thanking god, all of my family is still with me. But holy shit did this movie make me cry at least 3 times
I loved this movie. It references and pays homage to the original without rehashing the entire story and repeating the same old jokes. I thought it was beautifully done
It was great. The article he wrote for the newspaper at the end was the first movie, that was a great addition.
A great sequel to a Christmas classic that I plan in years to come play the 2 back-to-back. I wasn't expecting this one to be so good, nor did I expect the emotional aspects, very well done.
The ending with the transition to the first movie was heart palpitating
I was very surprised how well this came out. After watching Hocus Pocus 2 which was fine but obviously thrown together, I was expecting something similar with this. But it actually seems like everyone involved really cared about this project.
THIS is how you do a sequel decades after the fact.
Now that's how you do a sequel to A Christmas Story!!!

This movie was way better than any sequel to a 40-year-old movie had any right to be. It was wonderful. Not only was it a great movie, but it came at a great time. My dad absolutely loved the original "A Christmas Story". He and I watched it every Christmas....and, when this movie aired, I was going into my first Christmas without Dad. This movie brought a lot of joy to a dark time.

Great job loved this reaction, I loved Vanessa's reaction to Julie getting hit with thhe snowball. Also loved when they used Jean Shepherd's voice at end.
This was much better than I thought it would be. I loved all the references to the original, and that so many of the original cast reprised their roles. An instant classic.
They do it on TNT and TBS starting on Christmas Eve at 8 o’clock. I watch it every single year I have since I was a kid.😊

My grandfather passed the day after Christmas a couple years ago. The first fifteen minutes of this turned me into a wreck.
Fun fact: The stories that made up In God We Trust All Others Pay Cash, which would become the basis for A Christmas Story was originally published in Playboy magazine between 1964 - 1966.
Not only did they incorporate the book it was based upon. The original project name for the movie that was pitched was "my old man" and the concept was about a boy telling a story through his eyes about his father. But that got changed and it became a Christmas story.
Well, I’ve cried all all of my tears out😢 😂 it was so beautiful. This movie was perfect. I clap to.

A very well done reaction to a very touching sequel. It was excellent because both of you were invested in the original story. I' love to see you do "My Summer Story," which is the actual original sequel. It suffers from an entirely recast family, but it's still a great story and expands the family narrative. Thanks for bringing this reaction to us with such heart and understanding.
13:39 Jack Nicholson was almost THE OLD MAN. I’m glad it fell through.
I couldn't believe how well done this movie was. Most movies, especially sequels these days are total crap. This was beautifully written and presented. They should air it with the original when they do the 24 hour run on xmas every year.
This video is so much fun. 😀My husband and I watched the movie last night… It was wonderful. We are huge fans of A Christmas Story. We thought the new movie was great! 🥰🥰🥰🎄😀😀😀
I totally missed the original movie was the obituary...I cried so much. Very touching.
Very good for a sequel. Hit hard since my dad passed last year.
HELL YEAH BABY!! I'm so happy you guys covered this movie 🥰Happy Holidays
Did anybody else catch the mistake when mom runs out on the front porch to greet them as they pulled into the driveway She yells out "Peter!" Instead of "Raphie!" She called the actor by his real name instead of his character
This movie made me laugh and smile. I loved it.
Peter’s also good friends with Jon Favreau and worked on “Iron Man” with Jon directing.
I live in Sweden and I was an adult when I saw A Christmas Story for the first time. I love that movie and it´s been a yearly tradition since then. A Christmas Story Christmas feels like a worthy sequel. I laughed...I cried.
That phone call caught me off guard. I was a blubbering mess 😢
I know Ralphie's pain. My mom passed away on the 23rd, a few years back.
Darren McGavin passed away before this was made I think it was smart not to recast him there's nobody that could play the old man better
Seems like this would be better than a Christmas story 2
Loved it. Some genuinely original funny stuff and tons of heart.
I loved it. I love how he it ended. Did you notice that randy had on Jean Shepards trademark hat and jacket when he came in the house did dinner? I loved that. I think Peter billingsly did a great job, I love how he does poo-poo this role that made him. I think he did Jean Shepard proud with this.
This movie is way better than the first one from 1983! Thank you, Vanessa and Robert!
I am not sure why the tree's star fell and broke. Maybe it isn't a good idea to put heavy things on a very thin christmas tree.
Darren McGaven the actor who played Ralphies dad was in aGreat episode of Magnum P.I. As well of course his own Series Kolchack: the Night Stalker.
My grandparents since they were sending them out always got the Sears and Roebuck catalogue, and I went straight to the toys and womens under ware.
I haven't this movie yet, and not gonna watch it until after the TNT/TBS Christmas eve and Christmas day 24 A Christmas Story ends(I put my tv on one of those two channels and NEVER change the channel. nor do I turn off my tv, I just let the movie run. it's become a Christmas tradition). But I just wanted to say with this sequel, I love how all the cast came back.
This was a very good movie. But I think I liked the original Christmas movie the best because it had a lot of music the second one is a little too quiet.
6:57 I wanted an EASY BAKE OVEN when I was a kid because I thought it just “magically “ provided cake whenever I wanted it. Needless to say I didn’t get it. Same thing when PIZZA HUT had their kids’ pizza oven

Ooooooh Nooooooo!!!
I do the help me Ralphie I can’t get up all the time
This film holds the record for the most times I asked it out loud to “oh, for Christ’s sake, PLEASE don’t do/say/show that thing!” right before they did/said/showed that thing. This was nostalgia mining at its absolute worst. No kid and no A Christmas Story superfan wants to watch (and this is truly the plot) a movie told from an adult’s perspective about that time in '73 when that adult was an adult trying to get a book deal and their dad up and dies right before Christmas, so that adult has to go home to help their grieving mom write an obituary. Ah, yes, nothing sets the stage for the warm Christmas feel-goods like the introspective sorrow and depression that accompanies the death of a parent. Along the way, Ralph's son break's his arm, his wife winds up on crutches, his daughter is nearly blinded by a snowball, and all the Christmas gifts are stolen. But everything is fine in the end because The Old Dead Dad had conveniently already bought ALL OF THE EXACT SAME GIFTS and stuffed them in the basement near the fuse box. Keep in mind as you watch this that the family still hasn't dealt with The Old Man's body! We are left to presume it's in a drawer in the morgue or on ice somewhere, waiting to be dealt with sometime after the holidays. Flick owns a bar that caters to derelict husbands (this is a running gag), and Schwartz has grown up to be an irresponsible drunk who can't even pay his own bar tab. Someone needs to total the amount of runtime given to flat, tired gags about midwestern casserole. Also, radiators aren't a one-size-fits-all product, you dumb kid!. That's not how the publishing industry works (potentially acquiring manuscripts days before Christmas...in Chicago?!). That's not how newspaper syndication works! Barflies nabbing sleds from kids and going full Jackass is neither relatable nor funny unless it takes place in a Bukowski novel. A Charles Bukowski Christmas Story...now THAT would have been something! Finally, relegating the Red Ryder BB gun to a fleeting, dusty foreground element in the attic and not using it to resolve a pivotal plot point is creative negligence. I hated this film. I know Peter Billingsly really fought for this and refused to make it until they could nail down “the perfect story” and get all the original surviving actors on board (minus mom, who had quit acting). Knowing that, it makes me certain that screenwriting is a lost art form. If you're the kind of person who avidly prefers Blues Brothers 2000 or Vegas Vacation to their originals, then, man, oh, man, are you going to love A Christmas Story Christmas, the film that dares to remind us all of that totally relatable, heartwarming time when all of our dads broke into a bar on Christmas Eve to steal a beer-branded tree topper.
