This movie is one of the truly rare classics that deserves to be on theatre screens for this time of the year, especially if shown in a one-screen walk-in movie theatre in any All-American small town in a rural area, and Flemingsburg, Kentucky, is just one such example of such a town.

Absolutely
One of those films in which everything comes together seamlessly to make for an endlessly enjoyable experience. The role of Ebenezer Scrooge is tailor made for Sim and he grabs the chance with both hands to produce one of the most memorable screen characters in film history. The supporting cast, the sets and the music all play their parts to superb effect. Dickens was only equalled on film by David Lean's "Great Expectations" and "Oliver Twist" but the seasonal aspect of the story has ensured its enduring well-deserved popularity.

If I recall, in the book they planned on hiring the eldest son to work there too.
