A castle in Sacramento? Swan Lakes Castle | Granite Bay, CA
Located in Granite Bay, California, this 6 bedroom 14 bath home is the creation of Austrian architect Gillsburg Andrew. With over 15,440 sq. ft. of interior space it sits on nearly five acres of land with three man made lakes, manicured gardens with European inspired fountains and charming touches such as gazebos and sculptures. Originally constructed by Gary Cino, the owner of the 98 Cent Clearance Center chain, as a one-of-a-kind fishing escape the front lake has a depth of 26 feet, is filled with 1.1 million gallons of water that are stocked with bass, trout, sunfish, carp, and bluegill. Known as The Ponds at Granite Bay, the property complimented the fishing escape theme with deluxe suites for guests and a commercial kitchen.
The current owner transitioned the fishing compound into a European estate during the early 2010s by working with Austrian architect who shared his vision for creating a home from a bygone era with a nod to the grand homes of Europe. He sourced the classically trained craftsmen who would turn his vision of a stately home complete with wrought iron gates, grand staircases, gothic arches, domes, vaults, courtyards, and grand fireplaces into reality near Folsom Lake. Most building was completed in 2020 while special finishes continue to be finalized.
Yet it also has modern amenities such as a home theatre, wine cellar with tasting room, fitness center, a Swedish sauna, Turkish steam shower, and an interior courtyard with pool which is visible from each of the two floors. There is also a ten car garage, a full-sized vault directly from the Bank of America in San Francisco, and an elevator that goes from the first floor to the rooftop. There is also a caretaker suite and the 14 peacocks, mandarin ducks, rooster, chicken and 8 swans are included with the property.
The grounds include a fruit orchard (cherries, peaches, plums, apricots, apples, pears, and gooseberries), a citrus grove (lemon, mandarins, and oranges) and are enhanced by the magnolia, palms, birches, pines, willow trees, and polucarpus to complete the landscaping.
The cathedral ceilings, dramatic staircase and stately fireplace create designer touches of a bygone era. The six bedroom suites each have their own heating and air conditioning zones with gas extending to the balconies to offer outdoor access year-round. While some of the Gothic windows open to the property, all have remote-controlled blackout shades. They also feature a variety of colors and types of the world’s finest marble accents with deep soaking tubs with hydrotherapy jets. Each suite has blind, sound, lighting and AV controls via a Lutron system, their own heating and air conditioning controls and gas lines extending to the private balconies for year-round enjoyment . The home has a full intercom system, is pre-piped and pre-wired for solar panels, and can be voice controlled.
There is unfinished space ideal for an office, home study space, hobby or craft room, treatment room, etc.. The property’s thoughtful layout leaves room for a new owner’s vision and input on final design.
There are also tank and tankless water heaters and an Electrolux central vacuum system with an 8KW natural Generac gas generator. An elevator runs from the first floor to the rooftop. The home features a LUTRON system, a full intercom system, it is pre-piped and pre-wired for solar panels, and can be voice controlled. The alarm system includes glass breakers, smog, and fire for all doors and windows.
The property has natural gas, city water and two wells on the premises.
Located across the street from the gated community of Los Lagos, about 24 miles northeast of downtown Sacramento, the property was formerly known as The Ponds at Granite Bay and most recently as the Swan Lakes Castle Club.

I literally live a mile away from this thing and drive by it everyday. I'm 16 now, but I still remember when we moved here in 2012, I would see over the next few years this house being built from the literal ground up. It was always so cool to see "the castle house" that always surprised me with what was new. I think it turned out amazing, but it's a shame that no one every bought it because now it's just sorta out of shape and unkept :(

Apart from the gaudiness in some areas I love this castle! It is my style of living and a style of living you never see these days as it is too expensive. If I had the money I would purchase this and use it as a upscale wedding/event venue. I want to live in something more livable for me. I love the architectural design and grounds. I remember Sacromental City Hall too, its next by a Utrah 802 Suite Hotel, 5 Star, only shower place without the bath. They are on GPS wiring when I travel from Living in Silicon Valley 2 months til June 14, Kerry won the American Idol on 16th, my bf was in NJ. We tour with my mother at the City Hall, Sacremental. Its very different from San Francasico. We were from Orange county, Irvine, Lakewood. They have a spectrum mall Artitech, I got a white watch there, when the Apple air April 25, Nepal big earthquake 2015, on my sister birthday, World peace on Ms Congenality. 1 and 2, her name is Tina.

Please look at California and Florida real estate listings regarding where people want to live ($5 million plus). Not that everything you find is super tasteful, but you’ll get the picture. This castle looks as if a 10-year old created it. Very few adults will find it appealing.

Cool excersize bike, outdoor pool table and swamp pond paddle boat. Really spruces up the place. But then again its Granite Bay, there's always something tacky and makes no sense in a rich-persons establishment..
Swan lakes castles now that's a castle.

This place looks more like a museum or an amusement park. To me it's just gaudy and pretentious and screams "Look at me!". For half of what this place costs you could buy a beautiful huge log house with it's own lake on 300 acres in Colorado.
