A "California Gold Rush" Is Coming For Used Tesla Vehicles: Even A 2018 Model 3

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

A California Gold Rush like event is going to occur for used Tesla vehicles on the market - once Tesla shows that they can operate at a level 4 autonomy without a driver. Because these will be the first autonomous vehicles offering ride-hailing autonomously (covering the entire U.S., not just select areas), the money to be made with these first vehicles will be quite a lot, until more vehicles and competitors bring prices down.
This boils down to the following key points:
Tesla is on the cusp of solving autonomy: Most people see it happening within the next two years. Just look at all the incredible videos of no-intervention drives surfacing.
The first Tesla vehicles offered in ride-sharing will make a lot of money: This is because the first Tesla vehicles won't need to drastically lower their prices - just enough to be preferable to Uber and Lyft. They are private, safe, and will arrive quick.
A California-Gold-Rush like event will occur: This is because of the tremendous opportunity to have your own Tesla privately drive people around as a ride-share vehicle.
There are few competitors: There are few competitors to Tesla's FSD that can be run just about anywhere. Competitors are going to have to license the technology to have autonomous vehicles - but will be slow to do so.

Some major questions remain to be answered: 1) What insurance coverage will be available and at what cost? 2) Door issues, a. Most people don't yet understand how the flush door handles work and will have problems opening the door. b. An even bigger problem will be a door not fully closed after passengers exit the vehicle. It will be stuck in place, perhaps blocking traffic. 3) The car is far from home and low on charge. It can't plug itself in and it may not get back to home base. 4) It can be a target of vandalism. 5) What is the protocol when a Robotaxi is involved in an accident? 6) What about items left in the car. 7) How is luggage handled? 8) The passanger does not have an exact address where they want to go. 9) Passanger falls asleep or passes out. What else should be added to this list?

Waymo already operate Robotaxis, so what do they do?

I have thought this was likely for some time. The fact they are testing with HW3 before HW4 makes this more likely. v12 using end to end NN, which uses the under utilised HW3/NNU, instead of the slower CPU or GPU makes the older HW3 cars extremely valuable.

I don't understand where people get this crazy idea that if Tesla FSD ever gets to Level 4 that they can start their own Uber Service and make a fortune. With that thinking I could do it right now and drive the car myself. All I need to do is write and host and app just like Uber and Lyft did. I'm sure it can't be that hard.

I think to solve the FSD pricing issue, they need to introduce a per mile pricing. FSD is obviously more valuable to a Robotaxi operator doing 100k miles per year, than to a private owner doing 10k miles per year.

Why? The cost of a Toyota Prius is the same regardless of whether the buyer is a taxi driver or not.

@@PaleBlueDotCitizen Obviously not studied accountancy. Price and Cost! The cost of a car is not the sticker price, it is the Depeciation, which is higher for 100k miles than 10k miles.

You have no idea champ. You are suggesting that owning a Tesla will be more valuable than every precious metal on the planet combined. You aren't just going with the ridiculous 100% per year ROI that Elon claimed, you are going with over 300% ROI per year. If that were even remotely true, why would Tesla even bother selling cars? Why not just make the world's biggest taxi company. It would literally be worth hundreds of trillions in actual cash profit by now. If they were remotely close to achieving this, why isn't the stock worth a bajillion dollars? Buddy..... It's simple, this system cannot possibly work. If everyone has Tesla's on the road earning them 100k per year, then there would be less people requesting rides. It's nonsensical. It's just the same as the Twitter content payments. Elon promises everyone will get paid, but in reality it's total BS & incredibly easy to debunk with simple math.
