A Bucket List - How the Andalusian Horses Dance

Whether you are a horse-lover or a culture-seeker, this Bucket List visit to the Andalusian Equestrian Art Centre is a must. I've been trying to see these horses since our first year out on the road, and I was just an hour too late to get in. So when our path took us close to this iconic cultural gem, it was a must for me.
Forgive the formatting issue in the first minute - I admit I am not perfect in this video making, although moving on past this will give you a taster of what is to come in this video, where horses train, dance and work in unison with their trainers and riders. It is a beautiful thing to witness.
With gardens that scream opulence, buildings that ooze history and horses that dance with the grace of Kelly, this incredible space will have you hooked and entranced by its magic. I will admit to a bit of conflict, which I share in the video about man's dominance over animals. The idea of training a horse to dance - for our pleasure - seems wrong at so many levels. Animals can work in harmony with us to symbiotically survive of course, although there is a small ripple of discomfort I feel about some of the principles behind this. Still, there is no doubting the beauty of this art and the horses, and trainers' skill in executing this bonded presentation. It moved me to tears at times and I hope that this brief peek into the world of dancing horses shows you the beauty I captured as opposed to the conflict I felt.

Loved the footage K, you are so professional with that camera. A stunning place even without the horses, but they are beautiful and such performers. The riders and the horses form such an attachment that the whips are not used in punishment so much as an instrument to lightly tap the horses flank at the appropriate moment as part of their mutual language to achieve the change of movement or action. So impressive, thank you for sharing.

Thank you Howard, that's such nice feedback. Yes I see how the whips are not for aggression and dominance. The relationship between horse and rider is something else x
