If I was a blacksmith I would whistle and sing and I would follow the ship that my true love sails. O Very sorry in was a blackbird. It is a great pity that those great old important skills old have faded away I once drove past an old forge building situated outside of Cong Town, the entrance door frame is made of stone in the chape of a horseshoe and I believe that it has got some of the marking of nails on it, I must take a trip back to that part of the world and check it out after i have served my life ling sentence of working hard every day

Just looked up Farriery Ireland. There are now 99 registered farriers in the Republic alone, 30 more than the figure mentioned in this video. Sure 'Romantic Ireland’s dead and gone, it's with O'Leary in the grave.' We're all doomed, or maybe not, and a lot more prosperous than in the '80s.

There was a mobile farrier here, but I haven't seen him for a while.

As long as there's horseracing/showjumping/eventing, there will always be jobs for Farriers. Not a skill that can be automated. Conventional Blacksmiths might be on shakier ground, but there seems to be a fair few about in Ireland, making gates and such.
