As a person who preforms 1200 elo or higher, here are some suggestions: 0:35 instead of protecting with the bishop, you should protect with the knight so you can develop, you normally want to develop your knights first because those squares f3, f6, c3, c6 are normally where you always want to put the knight but the bishops you wait until a little later depending on how you opponent plays because they don't have a exact developing square. 1:17 When you moved you're rook to b8, you're essentially putting a weakness on a7 since the rook isn't protecting the a7 pawn anymore, so instead of Rb8, you could do b6 so now the pawn is protected and stops the rook from capturing so if rooks takes then you take back with the a pawn. 2:56 you fail to notice the fact the white knight doesn't have to take your knight which, the pawn can take meaning that you blundered a knight So, I didn't really see anything big or insane or any really insane game losing blunders so I suggest that you should work on time management since you had 2 minutes on the clock when the game ended so he probably could've made you lose on time. But overall, nothing too crazy, just work on developing your pieces and tactics.

Also after the Rh4 move, just push the pawn e4, chase away the knight, then Qxh4 winning the rook (or Qxg5 if he moves the knight there).

2:52 RE8 wins the pawn on E5. I think the best response from him is KE2 to attack the rook, but at your ELO he’d probably play NF6+ and lose the knight.

I'm like 1300, so ultimately I don't know what I'm talking about and I didn't check these with an engine, but if you'd like here are some things that caught my eye and some tips 0:53 Two things: 1) e4 instead of developing the bishop wins the knight, as it can't move anywhere save without hanging the rook to Qxh4. The same tactic still works on the next move. Chess is like 90% tactics, as they say. You might wanna train those and develop better boardvision, so that you can see such cases where you need to disregard opening principles. 2) Usually you'd want to develop knights before bishops. That's because the knights will go to c3/6 and f3/6 anyway most of the time, while the bishops are usually more flexible. So depending on your opponent's moves, there might arise a better square for development of the bishops. 1:05 when they took the knight with their knight the rook was abandoned. Take it with the Queen. Now both the knight and h-pawn are hanging and can't be defended both, so in the end you'll have won a pawn and the exchange. 1:15 Idk if it matters so much, but personally, I'd have preferred b6, defending the pawn, which will eventually defend my c pawn after c5. 3:34 Nothing wrong with taking the pawn, you're winning either way. But that pawn isn't going anywhere and actually can be used to protect your king from being harassed from above. So I might have started with the rook checks. 4:00 Remember that in the endgame king activity can prove to be the difference between win, draw, and/or loss. I'd have preferred f6, not putting the king at the edge of the board and winning a tempo with the attack on the bishops. 4:04 putting the rook on the d file instead of the b file would have cut off the white king and the b file would stay clear for the march of the b pawn. And at 4:08 it would have allowed the move c2, but, well... hindsight is 20/20 after all All in all nice game. Well minus the knight blunder on the way. Maybe Gothamchess is right when he says that for beginners 8 times out of 10 going back is a mistake. Luckily the opponent didn't see it either.

Holy damn, first of all thank you for taking so much time to write these tips out for me 😅 These tips seems reasonable and also makes sense now when I look back at it.. Gotta take some notes Didn't even notice the rook was hanging at 1:05 🤣, thanks for pointing that out. At 1:15 I thought about this move but ended up moving the rook. And about the end game, I do think I need to think a little bit more, especially when I'm winning I just play carelessly thinking I've already won the game. But sometimes I do have some time issues, which affects my endgame become a chaos, that is probably my biggest flaw right now, managing the time. There are many times I win a game with less than 30 seconds on the clock. Also this is a little bit older game that I reviewed, I'm currently around 600 ELO, but these tips are still gold since the gameplay still looks kinda similar 🤣. Really thanks for the tips. I need to keep improving in chess!

Not seeing the rook capture Brings me back to the first point about boardvision and tactics. The best way to improve that is puzzles, puzzles and even more puzzles. Endgames can be tough. They might look easy, some are, but often looks can be deceiving and a seemingly straightforward position can be ruined by one wrong step, even if it looks inconsequential. If you'd like to learn more about endgames and you don't scoff at the idea of using books in the age of the internet let me recommend "Silman's Complete Endgame Course" by IM Jeremy Silman. In this book the endgames are arranged by complexity and in sections corrosponding to rating, so you can work through it as you climb the rating ladder.
