I like Matrix. His maturity and the knowledge and experience he brings to GR is invaluable and he seems like a really nice guy. I'm always glad to see him in a video. GR/Viewingtons are lucky to have him.

Query Re: A-4 The Singaporeans created a "super skyhawk" in the '80s, partly by bunging a non-A/B F404 up its date, which brought thrust:weight to 1.14. [maybe at the end of this Attackers Vs Attackers] If it's easy enough to mod up, would be interesting to see how much it lifted the A-4s capability. The F-20 was a thorough makeover of the F-5 and brought it up to almost F-16 equivalency, I wonder how forward a similar re-engineering of the Scooter might have brought it along.

As a Kiwi, I love the Skyhawk (first jet fighter I ever saw). But, I wish the RNZAF replaced them with Harriers (AV-8Bs) when they retired the A-4Ks.

As a fellow Kiwi, I can't help but love the Skyhawk for the same reason. But I remember seeing the harrier at an Auckland airshow, it bowed to the crowd in a hover, so freaking cool!

I would very much like to see Grim Reapers vs. Growling Sidewinder team server fight - fairly evenly-matched stuff like this.

Assuming you don't die from missiles first, I think the Harrier should have a massive advantage, in that it will fight better in the vertical.

Agreed, harrier has almost three times the rate of climb, twice the power to weight, wing loading is higher but not hugely and excess thrust can be used to reduce that via nozzlea

Both aeroplanes are very clever pieces of engineering. The Harrier it is the mechanics and the A4 the fuselage and wings.

I asked the same question a week ago, and he actually came back for 1 mission! He said he's just very busy IRL but plans to play much more when his work eases off in December.

Simba complementing Matrix was the highlight. I try to always do the same thing in playtests for another, noncompeting wargame. Sportsmanship rules.

Try F-5 vs A4. (Two aggressor planes of top gun. If you pit f5 ace ai vs a4 ace ai they never win. Always a draw when they run out of fuel.

Twice the wing loading combined with twice the thrust kinda cancels each other out.

Also - some ideas for fights - are you on to the current UK Cobra operations? If you check flightradar you can see daily what's going on a lot of Typhoons up in the air as well as opposition forces provided by Draken and Top Aces - who actually are using Skyhawks and Alpha Jets. I think Draken are using Honey Badgers. Could be an interesting and simple real life parallel for you to try.

oh my... I was really confused why both planes are just ranked with a EFM and not PFM. So, third party planes basically cant have a PFM? Because the developers are most likely designing the flight characteristics by themselves? Is that correct?

He actually tries to help people and he’ll only get pissed if he has to keep repeating himself. I can understand if you think the other dude is because he is short with people.

It's been a thing in the harrier for at least 18 months I think. Hence no hovering guns fights.

@@grimreapers Alright I've been reading up on several articles on it and tbh it's a bit debatable. Viffing is a really situational thing you don't use in turn fights bla bla we get that but the only sources that actually talks about it state that it can't fire when the nozzles turn too much because it redirects the airflow (which the gun obviously needs). Only thing I struggle with is determining what that angle is they state is "too far". Only practical examples in the video posted where viffing would help is right as two planes are near enough to enough other and the harrier wants to get a very quick turn to fire. Overall I think dcs kinda models it well but doesn't do it perfectly. I imagine if the nozzles are at a 10-20 degree angle that you'd still be able to fire but past that I'd assume it wouldn't be able to cycle. Unless you were a really good shot I don't think being able to fire a single bullet would matter. Big thing though is I haven't found a single reference saying missiles would be disabled. This would purely be for guns as the guns require the air flow. Not missiles. Considering the fact apaches can use aim9s I don't see why a harrier wouldn't be able to fire a missile in a hover. Sorry for the wall of text lmao

America has 2 carrier strike groups off the coast of Isreal. Each CSG has 1 CVN class, 1 GC class, 4 DDG class and up to 2 SSN submarines. Do a scenario if all Muslim countries attach Isreal

In real life the Harrier would murder the A4 - it's a much higher performance aircraft and will retain energy much more easily.

A-4 vs. A-10, Please? Too bad they don't have the BAe Hawk Mk. 200, and the A-7 Corsair II in DCS. I just like the Hawk. In my opinion, it is the prettiest plane from the UK since the Hawker Hunter (another one I wished they had in DCS). As far as I can remember there are only two aircraft I have ever gotten to see from the UK, a bubble canopy Spitfire (I don't remember what Mark it was) and a two-seater Hunter (I actually got to see it fly). I was outside the Winco in Boise as the Hunter was coming in for final. I take that back. I have seen a De Haviland Vampire as well, at an airshow, it was being brought back into airworthiness.

Hi Cap, I was wondering if DCS could be used to illustrate the challenge the IDF is currently facing in Gaza with collateral damage. Would it be possible for the Reapers to run that Mogadishu mission, trying to avoid hitting the buses & civilians, using F-16s and F-15s armed with JDAMs?

Call me CRAZY, but I don't remember Harriers and Skyhawks mixing it up above the pyramids, maybe over the South Atlantic.

Once again the flying of the Harrier is frustrating to watch. I can see three fundamental problems (and am fairly confident that there are two others) preventing the Harrier from maximising it's capabilities. I have a great idea, there is this button called unsubscribe, feel free to push it and the algorithm should remove GR videos from your viewing. You have made multiple comments in here about it being a stupid Russian game that makes you angry, then go find another game to watch on KZread and don’t let the door hit you on the butt as you exit.
