997 TURBO UPDATES!

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

I hit 1k subscribers and as a celebration, I decided to get back on KZread with some fresh new content.
I've been gone for quite a while. Here is an update video for the 997 Turbo. It showcases what has been done to the car in the last year and a half, along with installation of new parts. I sent the titanium exhaust over to Josh Hutchins for revisions; installation and sound clips are shown. A guide for boost leak testing these cars is also outlined.
Thank you to all who have subscribed to the channel. I will try and upload more interesting things for you to watch.
The 997 Turbo powertrain as it sits:
-Modified 63.5mm VGT's
-Torque Solutions High flow inlet pipes
-Free flowing custom titanium exhaust built by Josh Hutchins
-AMS ALPHA intercoolers
-SACHS stage 2.5 clutch
-GT2 slave cylinder conversion
-COBB AccessPort
-Factory fuel delivery
-Remote tuning by Sam @ ByDesign

Your 997 is nice I love those rims everything about that car. That is nice.🤙🏽🤙🏽🤙🏽🤙🏽 we don’t have very many Porsches on the big island. Great followup vid X. I have basically the same exhaust minus the titanium part. Definitely drones but it’s the same compromise I’m willing to deal with for the right noises.

    I recently did the 4y major service, including spark plugs, on my 991.2 Carrera T, and sometimes I think I hear a little more whoosh sound at certain rpm but not consistently, it helps to be driving next to a wall/fence to have the sound reflected back. The car seems to still drive fine and pull hard, but your video has me wondering if I missed a small leak in the piping when I put it all back together. I think I can do the pressure check without taking the whole bumper fascia off, butI think if I end up having to take it apart I’m going to replace the diverter valves, as I do have a Softronic tune (transformative), and maybe add an oil catch can to the intake piping. Always feel like if I’m taking it apart I might as well upgrade more potential failure points. Thanks for posting this video, it’s good content for those of us DIY’ing turbo Porsches.

    “Don’t want to go too crazy, just 600whp” 😂 yea, I mean, they can make more, but 600whp in something that can put that power down is insanely fast, that’s 9 second 1/4 mile power

    X, Thanks for returning with your excellent 997 Turbo Content. I have a 2007, just dropping the engine this weekend(dreaded coolant leak, but made it 90K miles). Where do you remove/disconnect the transmission slave cylinder...last piece before my drop(I think). Again thanks for returning and showing off your skills and sweet ride!!!👍

  • @NSXavier997

    @NSXavier997

    Жыл бұрын

    Appreciate it man! You’ll need to disconnect the line that runs from the master cylinder to the slave cylinder. This will be a rubber hose joined by a brass coupler that connects to the main line mounted to the chassis & runs to the master cylinder. It is located at the rear most portion on the drivers side of the transmission tunnel. Either disconnect the brass fitting or disconnect the shark-bite fitting at the slave cylinder. I highly recommend swapping over to a GT2 slave cylinder that uses traditional hydraulic fluid.. as the factory assisted slave cylinder is prone to problems and leaks.

    Good videos. What is the best 13mm wrench to get the top cat bolts off when changing the exhaust out? a 13mm shorty ratchet or 13mm 45 wrench or what every the exact name of the wrench/ratchet is so I can get the right one? Thank you

  • @NSXavier997

    @NSXavier997

    Жыл бұрын

    Thanks! The best wrench to use to get those fasteners off would be a Snap-On combination wrench. Keep in mind though, the intercoolers must be removed prior to taking off the factory exhaust (or any catted exhaust system) as the upper fasteners cannot be turned outward using a wrench with the intercoolers in place.

    And another question, my 997.1 ‘07 turbo has 36k miles and never driven too hard or tracked. When should I replace the engine mounts?

  • @NSXavier997

    @NSXavier997

    Жыл бұрын

    I would replace them preventatively if they are original to the car. It’s tough to inspect them for sag with them installed in the car, and the only real way to do that is to remove them. But once they’re out… might as well replace them with new.

    Why the resonator delete - just not loud enough with them? And did the anti-drone tubes just not do very much? I'm looking at picking up a decent used exhaust for my SY 997TT to pair with intercoolers and a Cobb tune but don't want it to be too loud or to drone... Already have that with my little 360HP E46 M3 which has no cats, UUC rasp-x midpipe and Gruppe M titanium exhaust -- loud AF and sounds good most of the time but it does drone... don't really want that for the Turbo.

  • @NSXavier997

    @NSXavier997

    11 ай бұрын

    Yes. I chose to delete the resonators and drone tubes because I wanted a really aggressive sounding exhaust for the car. The resonators really killed the sound and made the car sound very tame in my opinion. The exhaust that I took off in this video is for sale if you’re interested.

    If you get a 3", high flow cats, xpipe, resonators, and helmholtz tubes exhaust setup you won't have any drone
