19:02 those voices aren't AI, they're just default text-to-speech voices in Streamlabs. Specifically, the voices of Brian, Justin, and Joey, in that order. I think it's interesting that Brian is the voice that's selected by default if you don't change your settings and is also the first voice to show up in their video.

So, how do you know with certainty that the voices provided by Streamlabs never used any machine learning under the hood? As far as I know, those voices were developed by IVONA, which was later bought by Amazon and turned into Amazon Polly. The Amazon site on Polly states: "How it works ... Amazon Polly uses deep learning technologies to synthesize natural-sounding human speech" I am not sure whether this applies to the original IVONA voices, though.

@@Alice_Fumo I mean, Elite Dangerous uses IVONA Voices. Granted the IVONA Voices are for the COVAS, not to fake voice chat in a Trailer. For instance the default Cockpit Voice Assistant uses IVONA 2 Amy with a synthetic distortion filter on top of it.

my friend talked about this game to me and said "its the day before" and i was genuinely confused because i asked for the games *name*, not when it shut down fucking amazing in hindsight

They basically begged the public to make the game for them for free. They were hoping a bunch of dorks would just jump in and start improving things, and then they could profit off their great work.

I think Bethesda games are at least good without any mods. Buggy, but good. There was nothing good at all whatsoever about this “MMO”

Tangential note: "Tasty Makeover" is, more than likely, all of those things. I've played games that looked pretty much exactly like that, with home decorating, match-3 puzzles, and dating sim elements all kind of mushed together haphazardly.

as someone who actually plays their hidden object game (seeker's notes), they really do All of it. There's a match 3 location, a connect one, memory card game, and of course hidden objects.

Wow, this video ran for over 1/200th the entire duration of the MMO it's about.

It kills me inside that Fntastic's actual Twitter account responded to criticism of their game with, and I quote, "shit happens".

Can I come in to make a comment that APB was a game I put 3k hours into and it was amazing. It was rereleased shortly after by another company and it did well under them. It’s one of the most iconic games in my life and defines like 6 years of it. The servers are still up, there’s still a playerbase (though was admittedly hit hard in the last few years in the face of actual GTA MMO)

That's APB Reloaded, not the original. I tried it over a decade ago and I found it to be terribly p2w + some PvP missions had stupid exploits. Struck me as a greedy game on life support. I heard the original wasn't like this and I still think it's a very nice concept.

Epic Mickey... just mentioning that name brings me back to high school and the last time I let pre-release articles convince me to pre-order something. In hindsight I'm very glad it's a lesson I learned before the model of "sell a broken game to fans and maybe fix it 3 years down the line" became the norm

my person favorite thing about the day before was from the youtube stream by Kaif, who ended up finding a way to dupe ammo and money. This allowed them to just go into the world with the best gear, also the first hour of "gameplay" was sitting in the menu trying to get into a server.

The "greedy raccoon boss" reference could be either Animal Crossing or Project Zomboid, and it's wild that either is equally likely.

I remember playing APB reloaded years ago. It was fun for five minutes

apb reloaded was amazing with friends! we fucked around on that game for hours, but we wouldn't do any missions. we'd drive around in trash trucks just hauling ass, then run over as many other players as we could. we also would take busses and trash trucks and bring them to the longest road in the game, and just drive into each other like jousting and witness the remaining explosion. that game was a lot of fun.

Doing something "unwillingly" is by definition not a choice so I have no clue where he was going with that

I had a friend who bought APB on it's launch, and paid for 5 years of subscription time up front. Only for the game to get shut down within a couple months, at most. He was pissed. I contacted him recently, only to learn he also pre-ordered The Day Before, with plans to buy 5 years of subscription time immediately if it had a subscription model. He clearly never learned the lesson.

I was going to comment on this video sooner but I had to completely rebuild the engine my comment was running off of first. Sorry for the delays, everybody!

For fuck's sake, Tom Nook is not greedy, and he's not a raccoon. He gives you a house for free and lets you pay it off when you feel like it.

It took me a solid minute to remember Tom Nook.

Matrix Online had similar issues when it was launched and was also why it died. IE, It really was released too early. It had game breaking bugs that where reported in beta but where not fixed before launch, ect... Same thing for another MMO called Vanguard and to a similar degree Warhammer Online also went that way. ( Warhammer Online lived a little longer than the other two but still died out. ) Its something that makes me feel sad a bit because all of the ones I mentioned here where really fun games. They all had huge potential but the ball was dropped. *EDIT* I should mention that the "similar issues" is aimed at APB

To be fair, I believe IGN was _also_ the thing that infamously gave a game a 7/10 rating because it had "too much water", so I'm not sure you should be using them as a frame of reference for how bad the reception for the game was.

Since not paying rent is easily the most common reason and otherwise it would have to be either that person being extremely loud / violent / etc. (rather unlikely) this very much brings into question about how much this employee earns working for Fntastic. Maybe the so called employees are in fact volunteers as well and the employee was evicted cause they had no money to pay rent, being forced to work for free on The Day Before rather than working a job that would allow them to actually pay rent.

So..... that happened! Haha. I love long videos, I listen to them while I play my MMO.

I loved APB Reloaded and the original did have some cool tech behind it. Not a great game but was fun for me as a kid.

So that happened... I don't know why I've been so interested in this dumpster fire of a game but I've been hooked. Also digging all the MMO content btw.
