Just installed my LT's and I pulled my engine and trans to do it. took a day and was super easy. Only added cost is about $300 for the engine crane and $100 for the engine stand.

I’m putting a set of bbk LT Headers on my 97’ Cobra, can’t wait for it to be done! It has Pypes mufflers on it and no cats with an x pipe

I think that would’ve been a great time to install a tubular k-member for future ease of maintenance and weight savings. They make life so much easier when you have to do something. $400 well spent IMO.

Also need all the equipment and it’s still a pain. I wouldn’t never attempt this on the ground it would be a nightmare

@@lightemuphotrods7172 I just got a 96 that needed a trans and already had bbk longtubes. First 4.6 car. What a job it was to drop the trans. Had to have both motor mounts completely loose and jack the motor way up to get the passenger out. They wouldn’t even come out together until the drivers motor mount was loose too

Ive got a 98 Cobra that had long tubes in California! I bought it one year before they changed the Smog laws in 2009, and long tubes were no longer legal, because it hindered the initial lite up of the cats by maybe 30 seconds! Cutting emissions in LA drove the entire thing! Smog gets bad there! Stock location of cats only! Some excellent shorty headers were available from JBA that were certified for use in California for 96-98 Cobras! No longer manufactured for 98! Anyway I searched for some time finding stock! Love the video!

@@Travillage JBA no longer makes them for one year only 98 Cobras! I believe they still make them for 96 and 97 Cobras! Those might work on 98's possibly!

I've done a couple of these, pulling the K is the way to go but don't put the stock one back in it!! Get a tubular, will make your future much less frustrating! Also, Stage 8 Locking bolts for these because nobody wants to have to get back in there and tighten them things back up :D

Just bought my 6th mustang a week ago an it already had long tubes on it....but the previous guy didn't install the oil dipstick apparently. Personally I've never done long tubes on the 4.6 cars. So stupid question... any advice or tricks getting the dipstick in or will I have to remove everything to get it done. I ended up finding a oem dipstick yesterday for a 00 gt as well.

Not too bad you may have to bend it a bit too make it fit in there but it should go in

Depends on the brand honestly. Most of them hang high enough

Nice video, I have a 98 Cobra with long tube headers I'm having to replace my clutch will I only need to remove one header to have room for the transmission to come down? Does it have to be completely removed thanks

Yes you just have to remove the pass side header you may be able to loosen it but it will need to pretty much be all the way loose might as well just remove it

Nice! I have a 96 cobra ive been debating putting on long tube headers! I want to save up for some kooks 1 7/8 headers so I can do a full 3” exhaust! Do you guys think I’ll get some gains by going full 3” exhaust with a tune ofcourse

@@78gmc_stepside so many people say it’s not even worth putting headers on these 4v engines but I think people say that because they’re too lazy to put them on or they expect gobs of power without a proper tune after installing headers

You won’t see gobs of power with an n/a motor but if you add a blower to it that’s where the long tubes will start to shine

You don’t have to tune after and just used the mid pipe that came with the headers

@@naterubio9733 if you had an exhaust shop modify it I’m sure it would work. I would just upgrade to a better midpipe though
