Check your FIPL sensor. Mine did the same thing when my sensor went bad. It is basically a Throttle position sensor. It mounts to the side of the injection pump on the driver side and actuated with the throttle. When mine went bad or even unplugged it shifts hard. Wouldn’t go into overdrive and would get a blinking O/D light. Hope it fixes your issue. If you have more questions about it DM me I know these motors inside and out

There is a wire under the carpet on the driver's side (where your feet go) it gets worn and you can replace and reroute it

It’s still the speed sensor in your rear end. You have to use oem Ford sensors (motercraft) or as close to as you can the orielys auto zone ect crap That’s why people have hell with cam shaft position sensors in these trucks too use oem sensors

I had the same exact problem man. You already spent the money on a rebuild. It's just a sensor issue. I bought an idk non turbo with a rebuilt trans. Same hard shift limp mode and OD light blinking. Check your tachometer sensor it's on the top/front of the engine. Oil gets shot up there it gets dirty over time goes bad. Just disconnect the connectors. You won't have tachometer or RPMs but it will shift like brand new until you replace tachometer sensor.

that's what I hate. Your transmission can be completely fine, but a simple sensor will mess things up. Mine will randomly not shift right, but it only happens like once or twice a month.

Another major issue with these trucks when your OD light blinks it’s bad battery connection and your wires more than likely need replaced. Ask me how I know. I went through 2 built 500whp rated transmissions and a triple disk TC. Battery connections and grounds fixed this for me. No forums on it no info about it. Took me 2 months to hunt this problem on my own.

WOW I just found this channel. Having the same problem with my 94 250 IDI turbo. The engine runs like a charm....but having problems with that damn limp mode problem. I took the cluster apart and put electrical contact tape on each connection tab where the harness connects to it. It stopped the limp mode flashing light and some improvement, but it wants to "slip" into 3rd gear. Hope it's not the torque converter. I can't believe how many completely unrelated things can affect these transmissions. These trucks are computer-free except for the mod that controls the transmission. What a pain in the ass. Try and find a person who really knows how to fix them. Almost impossible.

Steve in the comments I believe has the truck now he managed to find the problem. Perhaps reaching out to him, might help.

I had my e4od rebuilt and upgraded to a triple disk tq and when it goes into tq lock the rpms drop and then go back up a second later back into 3rd then it drops into overdrive you do feel it but thats how my shop did it

Believe it or not, it’s your cluster. The e4od transmissions sucked. So the two main things that go are the speed sensor which you replaced. But the issue is actually somewheres in the cluster. Pretty easy to pick up a cluster I think, might be worth a shot. I know it fixed the truck I used to have.

Sorry for late response forgot about this video. Saw your truck cruising around locally! Glad to see it on the road. “Puyallup transmission” built the tranny.

Yeah she’s still local , it’s my sons now has a 5 speed we swapped in it, the issue with the trans was the psom(speedometer output) Puyallup transmission also rebuilt it again again at no charge once I figured the issue out since it would lock the torque converter and burnt it up due to the electronic issue , truck still runs amazing and my son loves the truck.
