People are saying she has dementia, I don't think so. Listen again. That woman never went off topic! She wanted to tell him about the burner, he's there to fix the burner. Then he asked her why she's losing her license, she told him exactly why. At the end, he tells her she doesn't need that room, she says she specifically built that room and wants to use it. she brought up her husband's paperwork, because he was looking at it stacked there. This woman's mind is not drifting, she may even be sharper now than she was back in the day. Everything she said sounded logical, truthful, and thought out.

When you are 12 and have a story to tell, you have endless people to talk to. When you are 50, the list gets smaller. When are 92, you just talk to anyone that has an ear, because there is no one else.

Steve, You told this beautiful old Lady to leave you alone and let you do your job! She walked away and was going to do as you asked! Then you called her back to talk about loosing he drivers license! I’m a retired pipe fitter, Master Plumber, and a HVAC Technician. Did 45 years! Built a truck like your new one in 1979! I loved it! I did all boiler installations, service, and I did Rough plumping, and Med Gas. I hope you live to be 98, and love your home like this lovely Lady! I wanted to comment on your blatant disrespect towards this Lady who is struggling after watching your firs service call! I hope she will keep you as she desperately wants and needs good honest Technician! She just can’t believe that boiler mate is capable of providing a tub of hot water! Please try to be a little more kinder and gentler with our Senior’s! Respecting your elders is an unending task! Them oil burners are cheap junk. I thank you for taking care of the problems this boiler has! It’s obvious prior Service Techs we’re unqualified! Thanks Steve.

I lived in a house with boilers/brick 2-flat for over 30 years & had minimal service problems. Infact, I prefer steam/water radiator heated heat compared to forced air any day. Forced air heat is nowhere near as cozy & the air quality in the house isn’t good as the ducts generate too much dust. Now as far as working on these units, I’m sure that’s another story. But since the boilers that were in the place I lived for decades, I’m thinking they were made to last & were very sturdy. I miss my radiators although the drawback to them is they cut space out of rooms like a bedroom of which many bedrooms & closets were made small in alot of houses back in the day as people lived very simple & virtually had no big wardrobes unless you were rich. Most houses in Chicagoland are over 100 years old. I can’t see these newly built houses lasting that long unless the best materials were used like they used to use back in the day.

Wow, she's a feisty 92 year old . . . God bless her. Those are the same baseboard radiators that I grew up with in NJ, house built in 1957.

Damn. My 24 year old propane conversion Weil-McLain CGi-3 has been a trooper! It’s starting to rumble a little bit when firing but has never let me down in a quarter century of use. 😛

This was a great video, and it had nothing to do with fixing the heating issue.

I moved into a home that had that mono-t system in it. They had added radiator loops in where they should not have, it did not work well at all. I pulled the main loop out, and installed one of those multi-zone manifold valves used for floor heat, and plumbed the system in the special pex for heat to each radiator. For not knowing what I was doing, it surprised me how well it works now.
