The lyrics, his VOICE, & the acoustic guitar...I'm in awe. This went straight to the furthest depths of my soul the very first time I heard it. This song says EVERYTHING in so few words. It's both haunting & beautiful, & I could happily listen to it forever.

@@iamtalk Thanks for sharing this song you wrote with all of us. Today it has been helping me to digest a lot of emotions that sometimes overwhelm me. It's a real blessing to have a partner in this life--someone who calls to and draws out the best parts of you, and someone whose best parts you call to and draw out as you seek to inspire, encourage, and motivate each other no matter the difficulty of the situations you encounter together. Just taking root in another person over time--and them taking root in you--and simply belonging with them through all of the growth and transformation that life brings means so much more than words can ever say. When I hear this song it reminds me that life is empty of a partner like that. That emptiness hurts me a lot more than I can say, and it makes me feel even more exhausted than life already does. So many relationships seem to be blossoming around me in the world all the time--I look around and see people exploring and encountering the new complexity that emerges every day together as they face the small crises and large challenges which define all of our lives. I see other people getting a sense of the strength, flexibility and resilience that they have to offer as a partner in life and finding opportunities to care for other people by letting those qualities spill out of them. I don't understand why it is that every time I meet someone who I come to care about--and wish more than anything just to have the chance to grow together with--something always causes it to turn out to be a missed connection, like galaxies headed away from each other faster and faster with every second and nothing between them but an ever-widening gap of frozen darkness. I'm so tired of seeing those dreams wither and fade, always rotting away to nothing and never even leaving a single seed to sprout and grow into a new life together. I'm still trying to figure out how to make chances for relationships grow in my life. Thanks again for sharing your music with us, it reminds me that I'm not the only person who feels like this.

He’s incredibly humble and just seems like an all around real person. Been following him since a few months before this song was released and watching him go from solo videos to playing full on shows, crowd singing along to every word, has been amazing. Something about that rasp

Was looking at the 'official video' and this song seems to be having a moment. Capturing some kind of zeitgeist...whatever that is. Longing...and the need for real meaning. Stuff that has been around as long as we have...but we need folks like 'Talk' to remind us that they're real. Like Bono said...it's a song that sings you. Wouldn't it be great...if this song (and Talk) changed the world. Worse things could happen fur sure. Judging by the comments on the official video page...I'd say they already have.
