The Hourah Loux line and laugh gave me the vibe that he enjoyed the fight, not that he went crazy. It's likely a huge difference because Hourah Loux is his true self and a battle craving warrior. Him getting into a battle that allowed his true nature to show was likely the most fun he's had in ages, hence the laugh. Idk, it just gives me anime vibes, where the protagonist fights someone who hasnt had an "equal" in a long time, and the sheer joy of going all out makes them laugh

That's a great point! His second phase is already absurdly over-the-top tho the laugh prolly made him just a bit too campy for Miyazaki.

To me it, Goldmask's line sounds like a chuckle, then "Why not?"

Godfrey line is really cool and warming, while Horoa Loux laugh make it as like he really enjoyed the figth and got an ironic surprise being him the one who gets to finally rest

Fucking criminal these were all cut, specially Melina's and Gideon's

Goldmask is saying "Let... wine." The poor guy just needs a drink after that astonishing revelation.

Hourah Loux lauging after he acknowledges the Tarnished's strength, makes me think he is laughing at the fate which awaits them, a path which he knows all too well. It's a foreboding laugh. Doesn't Godfrey say "Alas, I am returned" (or something to that effect) when he shows up? Makes me think the position of Elden Lord was a duty he didn't enjoy, to quote the Soreseals "Solemn duty weighs upon the one beholden; not unlike a gnawing curse from which there is no deliverance."

He does! And that's a great connection with the Soreseals. Now that you mention it, we don't really know much about how Marika and Godfrey met and their early years, and that could be a ripe topic for the DLC.

I've always thought the "alas" refered to Godfrey halting the prgoression of our Tarnished. He acknowledges we've spent MANY hours striving to become Elden Lord, and now right at the end he wants to stop us. Btw where was Godfrey all this time prior to the burning of the Erdtree? Was he still in the Badlands, but came to the Lands Between once he saw the tree burning? Or was he already in the Lands Between, but we just didn't encounter him.

@@paralam2175 I think you’re probably right. In the context of his other dialogue that is a strong reading. As for where he was, I think that really does require a lot of speculation. Considering we never encounter him, and that the we can collect all the Great Runes, it seems likely that he was dead and has only just had his Grace restored. Gideon never mentions his presence, nor anyone else in the Roundtable Hold. In cut content, Godfrey is the one to send us on our journey to the Lands Between. He also primes us with anticipation of the Elden Ring being shattered. This makes it sound like it’s all part of a great plan. He also tells us to heed the Grace and Two Fingers. So, at one point at least, he, Marika and the Two Fingers were aligned. It gives me Dark Souls vibes, the Tarnished is being used in the same way as the Chosen Undead.

@@likeasonntagmorgen You know what, I don't understand one thing. Melina tells us Marika planned to restore grace to the Tarnished. And after Gideon glimpsed into the will of Queen Marika, he wanted to stop us, bc 'a Tarnished cannot become a Lord'. If so, then why didn't he try to stop Godfrey? EDIT: And if, according to Gideon, Marika doesn't want there to be an Elden Ring, did she really beckon the Tarnished back, or was it the Two Fingers plotting.

Gold Mask’s line sounds more like “Then… why…?” to me, like he is actually stumped by the revelation.

to me it sounds like he says "and, why not?" like the missing piece of the puzzle fits; an expression of agreement.

Yeah! I love how FromSoft games can be an absolute gold mine of unintentional comedy 😂

I knew this upload would happen at some point. I presonally think the implications made by Roger's diagloue are the biggest. This i think implies that not only the ranni questline, but also the ending would be guided by grace. I belive all the other endings would be with this too and the greater will would want to bring order by any means, even the blessing of despair. (I skip the flame of frenzy here)

Could be. Or could be just Rogier trying to persuade you into helping him, who finds himself incapacitated for the the task.

I really dig most of these boss kill quotes. Especially Godrick's, because it lets us hear more Godrick. I would leave Morgott's as is, though. "May the curse seep to thy very soul" is so poignant, I think adding anything else just takes attention away from it. Morgott sees himself as cursed, and he can think of no worse fate for his enemy than to see him dragged down to his own level. He's already said everything we need to hear about ambition, there's no need to bring it up again.

Was Melina's purpose really to burn herself to set the Erdtree aflame? After defeating Morgott, maybe it's at the Lift of Rold, she says that she was given some purpose by her mother, but now she acts of her own volition. Meaning that burning the Erdtree wasn't that purpose.

Or maybe it was but she doubted if she should fulfill it, but later on she came to the same conclusion that it must be burnt

I think the laugh of Godfrey at the end was mocking the tarnished, he fought well, he fought gracefully but he burnt everything to get it his way. The joke being a king without a kingdom

Personally I think Hoarah Loux's cut laugh indicates that it was a fun last fight for him, but the placement of the laugh, if retained, could have been after he kills you as Hoarah Loux and not as you kill him.

"Eh, why not?" was my exact reaction upon learning this "big twist".

"Metal Wolf Chaos" I would pay money for that game

It got ported to Steam, Xbox One and PS 4 in 2019! It's absolutely hilarious and it plays like a very arcade-y version of Armored Core.

3:16 Well, Hoarah Loux is a villain after all. People look at him cradling Morgott, and seem to forget that he is a genocidal warlord who’s morality boils down "might makes right". The same moral stance that Rykard comes to adopt later. It adds a bit of irony to his confrontation with you. You showed the strength to reach this point and challenge him, validating his view of strength. If you beat him, by his own logic you’ve earned the win and the throne. He may have lost physically, but his philosophy wins regardless.

sounds to me like goldmaks is saying it..would.. I don't hear why not at all.
