Frankly speaking, I have no direct experience in Network Infrastructure projects. Though, I do anticipate that a PM in that domain should have solid technical background. At least you need to have clear understanding of how networks actually work, what hardware is involved and how it all works together. If we talk about interview questions, then you need to be ready for domain-specific question in addition to all the question I mentioned here.

what about lacking staff? what do i do when i know that i need more people or specific skillls i dont have in my team?

If you can communicate the lack of staff to the Project Owners, do so. Let them know it’s a constraint. After that, plan your project with this constrain in mind. Sometimes you are not allowed to notify your Project Owners that you lack people and you can’t hire them quickly. In this case, go to your boss and ensure they know it. They should accept it as a risk. And in case of delays and unhappy project owners, they’ll have to support you.

Hi Kamal, Sure, if you want to become an IT PM - your experience is relevant. Though you need to try to find leadership experience as well. Yes, getting the basic knowledge of project management is a benefit during job search. Have you checked my course? It might be right for you.

how can I answer this question: say, a company is doing projects in agile scrum framework. when scrum becomes a mini waterfall, initially we get requirements and start developing software product and in the end, QA tests will be done. Therefore, at the beginning of sprint QA engineers will be not utilized fully because they don't have code to test. How we can tackle this kind of question?

That’s a good question @sachiguns. Usually, the QA team has a lot of work to do before the first results of development. If it’s the start of a project they need to write a Test Strategy. For each spring and each PBI in it, QA team needs to 1. Analyze requirements to ensure they cover all possible use cases. They also may communicate more with developers to ensure they understand requirements the same way. In general, the QA team works on preventing defects in the first place. 2. Create Test Cases, Test Suits. 3. Prepare any required information, files, mindmaps, etc that will speed up their future work.

@@teabag2258381, To start with, you need to learn two things: SDLC: pmbasics101.com/software-development-life-cycle/ Scrum: pmbasics101.com/scrum/ On Scrum and Kanban, you need to learn them well or even get training. It's a must-have for IT. Additionally, you need to be curious and aware of the technology and software in general. I don't say you need to learn technical skills but you need to be aware of how software (including Web) works. At least on a basic level of understanding.
