Got the car , a few months ago very pleased and happy , previous owner said it's "chipped" now... unless it has a map / aftermarket ecu , it I'm correct it shouldn't be the case , don't really have a lot of experience to tell how 140bhp and how 180 bhp feel so after getting the new clutch , oil , etc . I've got a remapped 2.2 (around 185bhp/300ftlbs) and had a run once with a possibly badly modified FN2. Off the roundabout down a dual carriageway up to 70 I was surprised by how much it DIDN'T pull away from my 2.2. I was that surprised, when I got in, I did a reg check on it. Yep, it was a K20 Civic Type R. Maybe add in some twisties and the FN2 would be gone. He was thrashing it too as the exhaust on it was LOUD.

Part of me still regrets getting the 1.8 over the 2.2 CDTi just due to the performance per pound increase via a map. However, having the 1.8 has been fantastic, and she surprisingly goes some for the power it makes. Been craving more power though....

@@ryanbmxmyers Yeah I heavily considered that, I was adamant on throwing an SC on at one point. But the base value of the 1.8 isn't like what an FN2 is. So even though you don't make what you pay on any stream of mods, dumping 5k for for circa 80hp became something of a bad idea. My mate has just picked up an Accord, pretty sure he has the R20 and his mate is gonna fit a 'cheaper' turbo to it. I'll see how his pans out (problem is, really it'll need mapping PROPERLY, which means Hondata so his prediction is without that), but if his works out for 2k or less, I'd be more inclined. I was just gonna save for an MPS, but I really love this car, and having put over 3.5k into it already (complete suspension overhaul, refurb brakes, custom painted OEM+ body kit, HU and general TLC etc), I really don't want to part ways with it. I aim to get an FK2R in the future (be a while before I can afford it), but I definitely need more power this year somehow... Even if it's unfortunately another car.

Definitely don't do that... You'll spin the fan blades which'll turn the fan into a generator. Depending on how fast and how long you spin the fans, you might damage the circuitry for controlling the fan. Which might force you to change the motherboard.

Anyone gone to these after a FN2 Type R? Currently done 20k in my Type R with the tax at 400 quid a year I was looking around. Only thing that puts me off is that I don't do a lot of millage to justify getting a Diesel a lot of 5-10 mile trips with a trip to the office twice a week which is 10 miles each way. Some motorway occasionally which is 40 mile round trip. I cant really open my type R up in day to day driving hitting V tech so it does feel very underwhelming driving it under 4k revs nearly everyday. The Toque and low down pulls feels very appealing to me but I do love the handling in the Type R throwing it into any corners, never driven the CDTI though so any comments appreciated

A difference of opinion, but these cars are incredibly slow and underpowered for a 2.2, even a remapped one. Celic turning seemed to think there was likely something wrong with my car when I complained after having a 204bhp remap. The truth is, I've driven a few of these 2.2 diesels to compare notes. They pull about the same. Remapped or not, they would never keep up at point with a FN2 Type R. In fact, they struggle and don't really keep up with much on the road nowadays.
