Thanks for another great video. FYI, I installed the Durango steering gear box on my 89' Cherokee. It is harder to turn now, and turning radius is not as tight as before. I can't make tight turns. When making a U-turn, turns are wider. When stopped and turning the wheel like when parking in tight spot, it needs more RPM's to make it easier to turn the wheel. Makes me want to go back to the stock Cherokee gear box.

I did an 01 wj pump for a 4.7 v8. Use the xj orface and a 96+ high pressure line to clear the wj tank. As far as orface sizing i increased size 1/32 per trial until i found what i liked. The return for the wj tank is the larger of the two return ports (smaller is the same size as a 4.0 return but causes cavitation and no pressure at idle if used as the return). Turns 35s like it did factory and still has enough of a flow rating to run a hyd fan or psc!

Very entertaining video and the commentary is spot on but I feel your pain. I’ve paid a lot and had similar results. You probably woke up screaming AGR for a few weeks. I wonder if they tried a port job without disassembling the box and used approximate port measurements, a drill and hoped for the best. They had it under a microscope so there was no chance for errors.

This reminds me of when I ordered a brand new alternator for my Camaro, it came with a dyno sheet saying how many Amps it put out, ops check good. Got the bad one out, walking through garage with new one, Hey, lets spin check this. Try to spin pulley, it won't spin, I force it to spin, hear this crunching sound. When they put it together they used screws on the back that were too long, they were hitting the cooling fan inside. If they really dynoed this, it would have been screeching and throwing 5 foot high rooster tails out the back. I hate bullshit!!!!!! Even if it's not the answer I want to hear, tell me the TRUTH!!!!! I hate shit like this.

The right way to fix death wobble is to go to a high steer setup where the drag link end points are as close to parallel to the ground as possible. A stiffer (or functioning) steering stabilizer also helps quite a bit, caster helps quite a bit, too (hard to do here). A new tight box just masks the problem, if it even does that, until it wears out or fucks up something else.

I know how you feel getting fucked around by a company. Reminds me of a salvage company I bought a manual transmission from. Took almost a month to get here, I get it unloaded, and unboxed, to find out it’s an auto. I contact the company, they’re like, and I quote:” We are sorry, would you like us to send you the correct transmission?”.. blew me the fuck away, so I said “yeah. That would be nice, considering that’s what I ordered to begin with.” Another 2 weeks go by, I get another big box. I open it up, and it’s a transmission for a completely different engine to the one I have and it had a shit load of shaft play. So I hit them up AGAIN, and was like “Yo, you sent me the wrong transmission /again/.” So, after some more back n forth bullshit, I finally got the correct transmission in the end. Moral of the story is, research the company and look at reviews before you buy. 💯

Did you have to space the 4 bolt box out Slightly more from the frame since it's a little larger? I'm installing the psc kit with their box and the larger box doesn't sit against the frame without extra spacers. I've also read a little bit online about people having to space it out an extra quarter inch so it sits flat on the mounts. I have inner and outer stiffeners welded in on both sides of the frame so that takes up a little extra space. I'm going to weld on some longer spacers and that should take care of it I no longer use the spacer between the box and frame the spacer is built into the stiffener so they just need extended. I was just trying to see if this is a common thing with the larger 4 bolt box or if it's just because my frame is plated. I could only find a couple instances of this issue on forums and stuff. Even though my frame plate has the proper spacers for the stock box it's the thickness of the plate that gets in the way in a couple areas that it wouldn't without plating or with the stock box.

Aren't the steering shafts supposed to be collapsible? I think it's a DOT safety requirement. And if you look, it appears that the narrow section should slide into the wider section, though it may take a whack of a hammer to get it to move after all these years...

I beg to differ.....fuck the Durango steering box! On my '98 XJ I put in the D box with the steel brace upgrade & couldn't wait to get it back out. The D box is too round in circumference as it bowed the brace/spacer but did bolt up & not bend the frame (so called). It was absolutely no better than a stock XJ steering box "and" was a lot of stress added to the spacer. I opted for a new XJ box and pump. I only run 31" ko2's, nothing too big, 3 - 3 1/2" lift, IRO radius arm brackets on the Dana 30 HP, Rusty's adjustable track bar, dom tube adjustable upper and lower radius arms (short) & RC tie rod. I DO NOT recommend the Durango box wannabe upgrade!

The WJ pump is exactly the same as a XJ pump. The only difference is the tank, and the valve that's in it. Being that you have to put the XJ valve in it for it to work all you accomplish is a bunch of work for nothing. FYI even a PCS TC style pump is internally the same as a stock pump. The difference is in the valving.

All this work you’ve done and yet you’ve never installed frame stiffness? That’s like step one of cherokees cause by the time you finish building it you find the frame is trashed then have to remove everything find a new one and reinstall lol. I’m actually really shocked you don’t have a full frame stiffener setup by now.. It looks to me like they replaced the box they sent you with a different one already worked on... (that’s why they uphold you in the rebuild) then it was crunchy from the shavings it looks like they then sent you a brand new one.. from a manufacturing stand point this is pretty common cause it saves them a lot of time from having to actually tag and track individual parts that belong to people and they can just run them through assembly line like.. makes for good business and piss poor customer service. The thing that throws me here is they usually do this for speed of turnaround. 1 month wait makes zero sense. Lol at the end of this sounds exactly like what happened.. they didn’t upgrade shit! It’s just easier on their side of things to keep things simple and make all get the same deal so they can run one line instead of many and having to track individual orders.. they just make them and ship them in order based on time..

No. No it's not. Rule #1 of using tools - You should never hammered mushroomed metal. That's like elementary shop class. The mushroomed edges can sheer off and make projectiles. The mushroom is to keep you from reefing on it with a breaker bar/impact wrench and destroying the threads. Hitting the mushroomed head will do absolutely nothing because it's held in place by the threads. Actually you might end up messing up the threads doing that as well if you're stupid enough to not understand you're going nowhere with it and keep going to town on it. I've had a customer return one completely hosed like that.

I still have a litle back and forth movement but its short of death wobble seems to happen at a certain speed and not all the time and its not bump steer so now thinking cooler temps outside its the tires themselves. The rock link is decent for the price. The crossmember can be a pain to install, and i needed to added a solid upper joint to the axle, but otherwise it seems to fit the bill.

Agr's boxes are not quality built. They sleeve small bearing instead of using the correct ones.

If you can put the parts on, you can just as easily rebuild the box and do the port job yourself... I doesn't make any sense to pay someone else to do it... Just like the long arm kits. You can build one for a quarter the price....

It was mostly a time thing. I needed to focus on other things and I figured $100 for a company to do it right wasn't a bad deal. Well boy was I wrong on that one.

In hindsight, that's what I should have done, but i was already so far into it at the time that i figured ok, this will just be how i go about setting up my hydro kit. That was before i knew how shit the company was. You don't expect the end up like this, it just happens

Hi, good to hear you saying it like it is (bad company, bad service and bad product) now all you've got to watch is the defamation dudes don't come round and hacksaw away at your nuts, cos that's what those company's do.

When a company plasters MADE IN AMERICA all over their product because they can't get anyone to give them a good review. embarrassing.
