Its actually the lifters that are making the ticking that noise. The noise goes away after a couple minutes from a cold start. It may be a future video on rebuilding an entire engine which I have plans for next summer.

take it from an old guy....lol.....Marvel mystery oil, a full bottle. then change oil after 2 to 4 weeks. Will also free up chain tensioner. Been working on those 4.0's since they switched over from the 258, and i know every sound they make

matt sez Yeah I've used that stuff in my silver jeep because I thought it would free up a sticky lifter but I guess it's just worn out. Plus it has 245k on the clock. Haven't done anything to the red one though. The sound seems to becoming from the rear of the engine and not where the timing chain is. But I guess it don't hurt to try that stuff out.

Good job putting the tires under the frame rails. Every person I see never does that and doesn't realize how easy a vehicle can come off of the jack stands. Having the wheels there could save your life.

Ellis 4.8 Of a vehicle with the wheels off fell on me I'd rather have the 9-10" clearance from the rim than 2-3" without it. Obviously the vehicle would crush you, it's simply an extra safety precaution. Was taught that when I was a kid in auto shop. Only thing I learned from the shitty class, knew the rest already.

Dont even have a jeep and this was still a very entertaining how to. Very well edited and described as well. Good job man

Your a natural person for describing how to do things the right way. You made your install seem so easy that I felt at age of 71 I could even go back to working on vehicles. As for the tires and what a few are saying your so right there are out of your way which leaves more room to work. Very nice video and you could be an auto shop teacher teaching anyone how to safely work on vehicles. I don’t have any type of four wheel drive vehicle and somehow I ended up here. That said, it’s a shame there aren’t many channels as clear and to the point with an install as this one is. At least for this video. Damn good video. 👍🏼

Don't listen to the trolls that probably don't even know how to change their own oil. Great tutorial, very informative and detailed. +1 on the tires under the frame, I see way too many people who don't even use jack stands or anything just have their 6000lb truck balanced on a 20 year old jack and laying under it. Someone get this guy 100k subs.

In 1995 mechanic buddy of mine and I put a PowerTracx Lock Right Locker in my 93 Toyota 2wd Extra Cab, with no other major models, just the most aggressive snow tires I could find on the stock 14 inch wheels. That Lock Right made it possible for my little 2wd Toy on 205/75-14's to be the only 2wd among 4wd's under it's own power at parties in the woods, on goat trails up fairly steep hills, roads closed dew to mud caused by spring rains and logging operations and with 300 pounds of sand in the back, countless places in snow deep enough to make it hard to open the doors. Of course driving it like I stole it played a part too. Every vehicle should have a locking differential of some kind from the factory.

Excellent instructional video! I honestly didn’t even notice the “go ahead” until I went back for the second time.

I installed Lokka Lockers front and rear in my 4x4 Isuzu pickup truck years ago. They work great.

One of the very best how to videos I have ever seen. Clear speaking, detailed down to torque specs and very complete. You are better than any on youtube and should have credit and be doing this for manufactures. Not sure if they make this locker for a Jeep GC WK but I'm wanting something because I dont have QD II.

Not sure if it was covered in the video but with Dana 30 once you install the locker the front drive shaft will continuously spin regardless what setting your TC is in. My TC whines a bit but that is a separate issue, annoying none the less. Now, I have cable front axle disconnect so I can run this in 2wd, 3wd and locked in 4wd. It does not handle any differently in 2wd at all I even drove it locked in snow and it was fine. Im used to driving in snow. I can turn and i dont hear any noise what so ever from the front but I feather the throttle when in turns. Off road the difference is amazing. Deff worth the time and money.

Nelson Hernandez you hear a slight clicking when turning as your locker ratchets so you can have your wheels spin at different speeds to make a turn

Great job, well explained and understandable. Glad to see a young man doing something besides playing video games.

Pretty good video. Telling us what size sockets are needed for the various fasteners is NOT a good idea because, unless the viewer is installing these on the exact same vehicle, they will have to determine the correct sockets for themselves/their own vehicle. You might have mentioned that many ring gear bolts are LEFT-hand threads. This is very important information for those who have little or no experience (which is probably 99% of the viewers).

The 4 small pins with the end nipple that connects to the springs should be facing the springs and not the hole it went into. The reason for this is to prevent the springs from popping off. Great video easy step by step. Thanks!

Yeah the nipple does face the spring in the video. You just need to make sure to face the nipple down in the slotted holes so when you put the cam gears together you can slide the pins into the other opposite cam gears. Thanks for the support!

I put two Lock-Right's in both axles of my Chevy 4X4 and I can hardly hear the clicking, even with the radio off. They do, however, sometimes (once or twice a year) make a very loud BANG when going straight. Sounds like a floor jack is sliding forward under heavy braking and slamming into the back of the cab. For this reason, I installed a TrueTrac in my newer Chevy 4X4. It is completely silent and not that much more costly.

Great video, this is extremely easy to follow along with and could easily be playing while doing the install. Not very hard to do, just time consuming and just have to pay attention to where all the shims go and to not drop any of the gears on the floor and damage them. These lunchbox lockers are a great affordable alternative for many people and can typically be done in the driveway or garage at home without any special tools.

great job mate. I'd watched other vids of this and had decided it was out of my league to do it - was resigned to sending the car into the shop to get it done. I'm inspired now to do it myself - thanks!

Good video. However, go ahead and never suggest to "grind a shim" to get the desired gap. Just go ahead and buy the correct shims needed. If you do go ahead and grind a shim you will never get it anywhere close to a consistent thickness and it will just be a problem. If you take the time to do it, then do it right.

Cheap Ass Jew You don't want a lunch box locker for a AWD it's a recipe for disaster. You can highway drive with the locker but as long as it's 4x4.

OutJeeping Can you make a video explaining why you can not use a lunchbox locker in an AWD vehicle. Does that include any automatic locker ex. Detroit? My Grand Cherokee is AWD. Would that mean I would have to change my transfer case?

I was going to put new pads on my 2000 F350 but the caliper bolts were SO tight that my 1/2" breaker bar (even using a hammer!) couldn't begin to budge 'em loose. I went to a tire store and they were gonna' charge me $55 just to loosen the front four caliper bolts *or* $100 to do what they call a "pad slap" (no warranty as I provided my own parts). That's how I learned they usually use red threadlock on the caliper bolts. No wonder I couldn't get the *blasted* bolts to loosen! :)

Excellent video. Very well shot and edited. Not overly long or detailed with things that don't matter. Just the info you need.

I put an Aussie Locker in my '97 TJ years ago. It really made a difference off road. The only downfall was if I had a tight turn while in 4 WD it was hard to turn. Great video.
