883 Sportster Flat Track Race at Springfield Mile

Old clip of an 883 series race. This was before the time when my bike raced in the 883 series and it appears its from a time when the rules said they even had to use the stock Harley wheels.

Awesome 👍..thanks for sharing. I raced these a couple times..what a handful !!! 😅 Last time was Syracuse Mile in 2006...✓ But it got cancelled due to lights and track conditions.... Awesome vid... Jay2
Moving right along for stockers.
Some body needs to bring this back to the tracks. It's great to watch and is a Boost for H.D. and it's work force.

@@irvhh143 Another reason was the transmission ran at that speed on the miles would cause them to lock up periodically.

They have a hooligan class..a bunch of there are running in it. Personally..the Hooligan class should be part of the AFT Series..full time!! 🙏🤟👍🏁
They sound so good up in the rpm's

Yes, these bikes sound great at any RPM
430 lbs? Stock but took alot of weight off, had to. still, pretty damn impressive for stock.

Probably no starter, no battery, several other things removed.

These guys aren't your daily beer drinking 250 lb dudes that ride bikes@@markwinchester3005Rider weight plays a huge part in off the line & throttle response speed. The less weighing rider, the better the performance is on a stock bike.
P.S. H.D.made those scrambler pipes for the street for 2 years I think. Maybe just 1.

If Honda , Yamaha , Suzuki , Kawasaki, KTM , Triumph, Husqvarna, built a bike to race in this class..Harley Davidsons would make sure the AMA would make special rules for all of THEM..
