Many evidence based coaches I've heard say to Never cut off water because you can't just lose it between the skin and not the muscle. So I'm always a little confused because then I still hear others (like you guys) state to "dehydrate" a little by cutting it off at 5 pm. If you can't just dehydrate between the skin ***selectively***...why do it at all? I'm not a scientist or a coach, so I may be missing something. I will read the whole paper, though, because this is very fascinating to me as a competitor.

I more or less put forth this position in the episode, which then led to me trying to differentiate between enhanced and natural competitors. Water manipulation probably holds more merit in the former. In either case, definitely don't cut water while loading carbs. Whether a natural competitor should minimize water consumption in close proximity to the show? I'm not so sure. In the vast majority of cases, it's probably better left untouched, in my opinion. Although, it could be worth experimenting with ahead of time. Peaking is much more an art than a science.
