85L Water Bladder | 4x4 Water Storage For Overlanding

In this video I share with you how I store water when overlanding. In my 80 series Land cruiser 4x4 I have a 85l water bladder which was very easy to install and a lot lighter than having a tank mounted underneath the 4x4. I also talk about how I maintain the water bladder and share some tips.
Where to buy this water bladder:

Hey Ross. It is a very cost effective storage system. In case it bothers you keep in mind when travelling over rough roads you can hear the water swooshing around in the bladder. Not loud at all.

@@4xTouring Thanks Duncan, i might even look at 1 or 2 of the 60L bladders so I can take them out and flush them out - great setup with the bladders and never had a problem with them on boats

Good video thanks. Been looking for options that are temporary and this looks like a good option. Will take a closer look.

It is pretty light too compared to the hard tanks.

G'day Duncan, Thanks for some great info. I shall be travelling solo soon and I'm curious as to why you carry your drinking water separately... and how you carry your drinking water. Cheers, Tony J

Hi Tony. For drinking we carry bottled water. When i was building the rear storage area we kept an area just for this. The water in the bladder is good enough for drinking. However if this is not flushed out regularly when not travelling the water can go bad. A little bit of water has to be kept in the bladder when parked so the moisture keeps the bladder material from going hard. Ajanie does not trust my cleaning of the bladder 😁 she is a microbiologist so a bit over cautious i think. This is why we take both. Bladder water is for washing and showering. Having said that you can do with the bladder only. Perhaps a few water purification tablets in drinking water will make it safe.

I'm interested, my Triton is set to arrive next month and I'm thinking of going the bladder over the hard tank too

It has worked very well for us. Also the weight is more closer to the centre than at the back.

Honestly a great water solution. Now...is it noisy on the trail? I have some 5L collapsible water jugs and they can get oddly loud.

Can get a bit noisy especially over very bumpy tracks. Not loud though. But does bother us. If you shut the rear seat might be even better.

Thanks! Dampening the sound would be important to me since the sound of sloshing water is not my favorite. Makes my skin crawl a bit hahah

@@plavedan4269 We are currently on an outback trip. Did the most annoying of corrugations today. Hardly heard the water in the bladder.
