The plastic taste isn't isolated to Drifta. I bought a similar bladder from an established Oz mob who specialise in bladders and had the same problem. Never had a chance to test out all the solutions which I read about because I blew a seam in the bladder by over pressurising it during a refill. At that point it was a sign to never use a flexible water bladder again. I believe the rigid poly bladders are not affected the same way. In any case I've been using water jerry cans since (from Bunnings). Thanks for sharing. Cheers

Yeah I persisted with it for grey water, but after a couple of years of use, it finally seems to have lost the plastic taste. Now it functions as intended and it’s working well for me now. Certainly wouldn’t recommend the product tho.

@@operation4wheelz Yep...I would only use flexi bladders for fresh grey water.

I'm thinking about just making my own simple gravity water system. A food grade plastic tank that fits wherever you want to keep it with a fill and drain plus the tubes and hardware. Should be simple enough.

Thanks for sharing and thanks for the heads up. Have you tried an inline filter ( charcoal or silver) between the bladder and the outlet?

That's very disappointing. I was just about to buy one of those water bladders for drinking water. Thanks for your review.

No worries mate. Yeah. I still use it for grey water but Mr’s still won’t drink out of it.

I have a feeling that they ment to mix cordial with the water to mask the taste

I find that even the plastic tupperware water caontainers have a plastice taste. I think youve just got to live with it some times or find an alternative.

Luke only uses his bladders for grey water and says the taste is the taste albeit drink water safe. Check his channel for his latest video on the subject.

@@operation4wheelz Here’s a cut and paste from a manufacturer who’s been making bladders (some really huge ones as well ) for a long time. “Please also note, with all our drinking water bladders, the taste is preferential and there are many factors that subject to taste. However, all our drinking water bladders are tested up to Australian Standards for plastics with use for human consumption. So, we can guarantee that there are no toxicity present.” In the video (Luke’s ) his mate who had been drinking from his own bladder on the trip filled up at one spot on the Canning and couldn’t drink it after that. Some of the taste is just what goes in

@drew5763 that must be relatively new. He had a video saying “The quality of the water that goes in, is what comes out”… I suspect I’m not the only one disappointed with this product

@@operation4wheelzOn the Drifta website under bladders he states ( in black and white ) that he doesn’t drink from only uses for grey, a lot of reviews say same thing. Personally I have used bladder, poly footwell tank and Jerry cans, taste doesn’t bother me much at all. I did make the mistake one day of drinking from a hot hose “that” was gross.
