850+Hp SUBARU Impreza Type-R || Insane Build 22B Engine & ONBOARD

This is the spectacular Subaru Impreza GC8 Type-R of Rich White attacking Mallory Park on our Quick60 Challenge event and it´s competitive Debut after an extensive build process of well over 5 years. A tremendous Boxer-powered unit, using the EJ22 motor of 22B fame and pretty much all Top-Of-The-Line one could imagine an Impreza can have to go as fast as possible on a circuit/Hillclimb. We can even leave a list right here:
Carbon S5 WRC kit, T45 cage, carbon aero package, DJ rear wing
2.35L engine, billet crank, dry-sumped, 8 Injectors, BorgWarner EFR8474 Turbo, inconel manifold,
CSK titanium exhaust, TurboSmart wastegate & ALS valve, Forge Motorsport custom intercooler
& radiator package
Samsonas 6-Speed sequential gearbox with flat-shift, DSS driveshafts & carbon prop, Exedy triple
plate clutch, Cusco RS rear diff
Tubular front and rear subframes, bladed rollbars, Krontec air jacks, EXE-TC 4-way dampers, AP
8-pot front / 4-pot rear brakes, 10x18” RAYS TE37SL or Enkei RS05RR wheels
Bremax custom wiring loom, MoTeC C127 dash, MoTeC PDM, Syvecs S8 ECU

Almost, because it should have the symmetrical exhaust manifold, and therefore turbine placed right on the middle of the engine / gearbox , if not Biturbo. Pwy.

Reminds me of Gobstopper 1, But the rear wing and diffuser are mental!

Yeah, definitely, down to the iconic placement of the dry dump reservoir in the left side passenger footwell. It does seem to drive way less oversteery tho.

This thing is cleann broo.. Rich White definitely has great taste and serious relationship with white color.
I cannot begin to describe how much I appreciate the build list in the description. I've always loved the pop-up boxes with all the major info, but this is next level : ]

Killer, STi Type R's are not common. Only 1st gen thats rarer is the 22b. Imagine the kind of work it takes to get that power out of the split block design & have it not grenade every run lol. Good stuff 🤘

This one has the kind of care and attention that surely will grant it some more reliability...being this said, it´s still a Subaru EJ engine...
Wow, solid and Clean with Big power! That's one of the engines that died many a sad death in the US, and there's only a handful of really powerful EJs that are also reliable due to limited weakness and reinforcing strategies over here. Everyone knows about the oiling shortfalls, but few address the cradle flex and such. Super impressive to that builder!

Step one. Start with a 2 liter. The US got the shitty 2.5. For some reason the US just sleeps on the 205

I always wonder about catch cans inside the cabin and how that is not against rules. Seems like it defeats the purpose of the firewall. Insanely cool car, looks amazing too.

The Impreza STi Type R was a 2 door version of the rally homologated Type RA sedan introduced in 1997. It was one of the lightest 1st Gen Impreza's ever built 🤙

This is the EJ22 which has some differences to the commong EJ20 and can certainly withstand some greater powers and pressures. Being this said, they´re still EJ engines... Although the kind of investment and attention to detail here is certainly TOP NOTCH ;)
