Eventually, Pearson settles into a happy life, running the general store in Rhodes. He gets married to a woman named Ethel, and still keeps a photograph of his former family close to his counter.
John can regularly visit Pearson, who will express joy to see him again and the latter congratulates him on the shop. John will also tell him that he and his family live on a ranch in Beecher's Hope, to which Pearson gives him luck with running.

After Pearson’s store, the next scene in the credits shows the agents stopping a stagecoach and questioning the passengers. It’s not explicitly clear but that location is outside of Rhodes. Then we see the agents overlooking Beecher’s Hope. This and Pearson’s probing questions to John imply that Pearson or his wife could have given the agents the location of John and his family, probably under some pressure or threat.
Does Pearson ever send John that letter ✉️ ?
