    Wildcats were cool!, I haven't seen a lot of them available, and Savage Dragon is expensive. My budget isn't $50 per figure, it's much less, but thanks for showing what's available.

    Cool video guys. Nice to see the variety of toys that were around back in the day. I wonder if it might have been down to promotion, or the lack of, that some of these lines didn't sell too much.

  • @OpenByChance

    @OpenByChance

    Generally, if the toy line wasn't selling, they would just shut it down and kill the show. Swamp Thing from Kenner (1990) is a great example. They rolled out a dozen figures with vehicles and a playset based off of the first episode. The figures didn't sell, and the show was canceled after five episodes and production on the toys halted. They all ended up on clearance at KayBee. So without the show exposure, people forgot about the line. You can still get the Swamp Thing figures very cheap on the card. We showed them in the last video in this series focusing on 90s toys.

    @@OpenByChance Living in the U.K. as a kid, we didn't have a heck of a lot of TV related action figures. We did have Action Man, whom I'm assuming was based off of G.I.Joe, as there wasn't a TV show that I recall for Action Man. Gerry Anderson's shows were the biggest franchise over here, but I don't recall there being any figures available in the 60's. We had primarily the Matchbox, Dinky and Corgi vehicles that were related to various popular TV shows, and you'd sometimes get figures with them, but that was about it really.

    Modern toys are definitely going up in price. Most of the toy lines shown in this video are shockingly cheap. Not a Doctor Who or a Star Trek fan personally, but I certainly expected the figures to be worth way more considering the size of the fan base for both properties. Did Congress actually waste time and money to go after a toy? The Robotech figures do have me interested. Another excellent and informative video. Would be interested in a video for early 2000's toy lines.

    Action figures have become a joke. Yes they look better, well some do. Some have better articulation, but the old Toy Biz figures were exceptional with articulation. My classic Doc Ock is proof of that. But scalpers have turned it into a insanely priced business. I mean they are already over $25-$50 when released, then add another $20-$50 for their profit and another $10-$20 for shipping? eBay is filled with $100+ Star Wars Black Series figures, and Marvel Legends. I used to buy action figures 2-5 times a month. Now? 2-3 times a year.
