8 ways the world could suddenly end: Stephen Petranek at TEDxMidwest

Unintentional "Dark Futurist", Stephen Petranek, re-visits the subject matter of his original eleven year old TED Talk and offers the audience an extraordinarily sobering look at the eight critical issues that threaten human life on Earth.
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)

When he said the second wave of the Spanish flu killed *everyone* who contracted it, I thought, "This may be the perfect bioweapon." First, you engineer it in the lab. Then you make a vaccine and vaccinate everyone in your own country. Then you unleash it on your least favorite enemy. Not advocating that, but it is something that even a small and poor country could potentially do.

Matthew 24: 21 for then there will be great tribulation such as has not occurred since the world’s beginning until now, no, nor will occur again. 22 In fact, unless those days were cut short, no flesh would be saved; but on account of the chosen ones those days will be cut short. Bible prophecy has been proven to have happened, or come true. Records of prophetic events, that we recorded in early scrolls or scriptures...came true hundreds of years later according to historical data discovered through archaeological findings. SO, if people can imagine things today as being a Futuristic event... Why not Trust that what God is relaying to us, will also come true? Matthew 24, had a two part meaning. One was for Jerusalem and it's future demise in 70 CE/AD - and one is for us today.

@@rickwhite4137 did you know that Russia has 4 times the number of engineers compared to the US, despite having only half the population? What made America into the land of opportunity was the incentive for highly educated people to come to America. In one of those countries you speak of a recent article talks about there being only one person left on the west cost that wants to be a painter. Hordes of cheap workers from east of Europe and other parts of the world do most of the hard, low level work, but they do not always settle, but instead move to where they can find work. In the other end of the scale you find that you need a bachelor degree to even work in a kinder garden in some areas. This creates an ENORMOUS pressure on the youth who can no longer expect to survive with a low level job. Truth is, you don't NEED a large number of highly educated people to create a successful nation. You only need to maximize the incentive and opportunities for those few exceptional people to come and create jobs for the rest of us.

I had watched this video a year or two ago. Impressed as I was from the wisdom contained herein, it's just passed off as another "science talk". Watching it again today, in the Covid-19 times, shows it entirely in a different light. The prophecy in this video is so surreal.

jakeheke Not everything is a conspiracy. We learn things about this and experts have been warning about possibility of pandemics such as this for years and you also learn it in public health classes. People don’t seem to realize this is the 7th coronavirus strain mid 1900s so it’s not something new yet we don’t prepare for the next one
