Hey, thank you for having noticed... It's very strange to talk to the camera imagining people in front of you. I feel much better in the class when people interrupt me all the time and when I need to answer the questions, though :D Thanks for the comment, it means a lot. :)

Há muito tempo eu falava, explicava e comencia os meus amigos a começar a aprender português com a Maria. Um deles prometeu-me que começaria a estudá-lo na próxima segunda-feira. For several years I have been searching the internet for the best Eu-Portuguese lessons. I have found only a handful (5 to be exact) which are worth my time. Maria’s is one and Simpleton Portuguese is another. They each have a different but effective teaching style and approach to learning Portuguese. I am grateful that I found them both.

@@portuguesewithmaria Maria, I am a native speaker. You know more grammar than many native speakers. In my opinion, non-native speakers are much better than native speakers. You learnt the language. You know exactly what is difficult in Portuguese. You can give your students tips on how to improve certain aspects of the Portuguese language. You have been through all those difficulties when you learnt the language. Don't put yourself down. Actually, being a native speaker only means you were born in that country. A native speaker can imagine how complicated Portuguese is. You don't need to picture how complex Portuguese is. Writing in your native language well doesn't make you an excellent writer. Speaking your native language well doesn't give you any skills to teach the language. Speaking two languages at the C2 level doesn't turn you into an interpreter or a translator without practising those skills. Value and love yourself, please.

De maneira espontânea, poderia dizer-te que o imperfeito usa-se para descrever eventos no passado. Eu quando era uma criança costumava ter muito contacto com a natureza e os animais. Poderias perfeitamente associar esta frase com o " Used to" do inglês Essa ação do passado pode ter uma ligação no presente. Eu costumava ter contacto com a natureza e ainda continuo a ter contacto com a natureza e os animais. Julgo que o PPS seja aquel passado simples. Ontem, falei com a tua mãe. Pensa num evento passado que já conclui no passado e não tem nenhuma relação com o presente ou o futuro. Se eu disser" Quando tinha 10 anos fazia longas caminhadas com o meu cão" A outra pessoa talvez me pergunte E hoje em dia, também fazes longas caminhadas com o teu cão, José? Agora já não, ou talvez a minha resposta seja afirmativa. Agora bem, se eu disser" Ontem fui passear com a minha cadela", a palavra" ontem" esta a indicar que o evento aconteceu ontem. Com certeza que há mais casos. O meu conselho é aprender frases de cor e usá-las. Os exemplos da Maria, são bons.

Obrigado Maria! Eu sempre preciso de praticar isto. Posso dizer que te esforças a fazer teus vídeos e eu aprecio isso.

Uses 7 and 8 must be particular only to European Portuguese. Very interesting.

Parabens, todo muito claro. Também em dialecto de Milão, nos dizemos "Faria"...em português "Eu faria ". Em milanese "Mi faria"!

As Maria told you, you could purchase a book on Amazon. Português em foco is a good book. You have grammar books from the level A1 to C2. Have a look at Amazon or eBay.

I am currently working through your beginners level A1 and think you are a wonderful Teacher but I am unable to understand or learn anything from your later videos as they are all in Portuguese. It would be really helpful if you could explain in English as well as Portuguese:)

@@portuguesewithmaria Estava tentando pensar em algo que aconteceu uma vez no passado. Na verdade, o que aconteceu foi que atualizamos seu modem e meu computador antigo não era compatível com o novo modem. Eu sempre adoro suas aulas.
