I have a Toy Poodle (5 pounds) who will be two years old on November 30, 2021. She fits this description well. She needs lots of exercise and she wants to bark at everything but I've taught her what is acceptable to bark at. She loves toys and knows where I keep a supply of new toys and she gets really excited when I tell her we're going to get out a new toy! She knows where they are and runs to the spot. I get her groomed every 6 weeks but give her baths in between. I love hearing from others who have a Poodle and your video was suggested. Enjoy Lambo!

I was blessed in April 2022 to rescue a 5 year old 4LB apricot toy poodle. He is now 6 lbs and eats only the best. He came from a horrible place of greed and soulless people! He was locked up in a cage and stuck in a garage since birth. He didn't know how to run, play with toys, jump and never given any love. The first time I held him he cried and so did I. He now has the best life. He is with me 24/7. He sleeps on the bed with me. He is the hit of this small farm town. I can't believe how smart they are! He knows how to move the screen on my phone to watch the next video. I would take a bullet for this baby. Actually he rescued me.

@@Damascus17 That's such a sad story about his early life. I'm glad you found each other. I would do anything for my little girl. She gets the best food and care. She has little stairs all over to get where she wants easily and she has so many toys to play with.

Everyday he continues to surprise me and just when I think their is no way I could possibly be more in love with my little one it keeps happening every day more and more. I say he rescued me. My dog was never a picky eater what I ate he ate I never gave em sweets r real greasy foods he ate fruit and lots of veggies I ve had 3 before but my next dog will be a toy poodle they r great dogs you'll enjoy yours😂❤

If u train your puppy very early get em use to the sound of the cliper and lay it out that he can be around it.i do thier nails as well u will save a lots.of money so do it your self 😊

Lambo also didn't bark when he was a puppy :):) it started when he learned how to make big barks and he was a little older. It can be better controlled with early training!

Hi, I have 2 toy poodles (age 4 and 2) and they are so good. Yet they are very different too - my red poodle is timid (to new environments) , laid back, loves to play with us and eat almost anything.. my younger black toy poodle is a fast runner, active, has separation anxiety, loves squeaky toys, (my red poodle loves anything with a rope only) and he is a fussy eater. Though they are active but I think they also adapt to my lifestyle .... if I lay around my couch, they will too. 😃. They are so smart and they know me so well. Love them so much. wish they could talk too!!!😂. because I always talk to them.

My poodle never barked a lots.he was a great little dog!he came with me! To work each day!yea she was very very smart I would show her a trick once and she learned it.very sweet loved people! They r great dogs

Getting my baby tomorrow and I'm so concerned about the Separation Anxiety part, I am going to classes for her to become my Service Dog so I will be with her a lot but I am also moving away (WITH HER) and going to school 3/7 days a week. So I don't want her to be super anxious while I'm away as I'll be going to a makeup school, although she will be registered, it's not the best idea to bring her regardless. 😭

The decision is totally up to you! But it’s good to take into consideration their small size and sensitivities especially as puppies, they are a lot more fragile. They would require a lot more attention, training and making sure your keeping them safe and help prevent an anxiety from developing. The pup could get overwhelmed with 3 children and a bigger dog. We don’t have pet insurance, we’ve thankfully not needed it🙏🏼🙏🏼. Our vets in Asia have been amazing and inexpensive!

Is there anyway that the barking can be curbed. ? I have my heart set on getting a toy poodle, but I live in an apartment---

Every poodle may be a bit different some might bark a little more some a little less, but if you start the training when they are a puppy you can work on it for sure! It's in their nature to alert you when they hear or sense something but if you put "speak" on cue you can also teach "quiet". All the best!

they are called differently in stores and on amazon.. but usually, stainless steel ear pulling scissors or stainless steel curved hair pullers

Great video but I think you missed two important facts about them. They are very picky eaters and they have very sensitive stomach. I personally think the picky part is the most difficult to handle.

Thank you! Those are good points!💛 Some poodles can be fussy eaters ☺️. But you can't blame them, if they eat the same meals every day. Many poodle owners find success by rotating different healthy toppers on their meals or switching up their meat sources. We order Lambo home cooked meals and there is 4 different varieties so he enjoys his meals and of course all treats 😆. I also cook for him as well. Additionally if you are giving your Poodle many treats and/or snacks that are quite sizeable, your dog may be picky at dinner simply due to having their appetite sated from all of the eating that is happening between meals. Poodles and all other dogs become picky eaters for some situations that are not too serious. Examples of this are, they are not comfortable, they don't like eating with other dogs, the bowl is too high or too low or too deep for them, or they just don't like the food. The good news there are solutions! We also got Lambo bowls that are on a stand so that he isn’t reaching his neck too low and that has made a big difference as well! I do agree that they do have sensitive stomachs - points worth noting! Cheers😊

I have a year-old toy poodles but they are not that athletic. Their blood samples turned out just fine, I just don’t know why they don’t like activities like that hahahaha!

It could also depend on their diet, I always find Lambo has an extra burst of energy after eating a big bowl of meat!

Under 10lbs :) Toy poodles usually weigh 5-10lbs. Lambo is on the bigger side with lots of muscle 💪He's our security guard haha

I washed and groomed my poodle my shelf I groomed all my dogs my self it's not hard to do!

it's common in poodles! I haven't touched on this topic but will talk more about it... tear staining is common because of their eye ducts or if they get something in their eyes. We have tear-stain wipes for dogs and use those to clean around his eyes but I have noticed it happens much less with Lambo when we improved his diet, water quality and ensured to clean with the wipes regularly. 😘

@@PoodlesandParrots I am considering a poodle for a therapy dog. I want her eyes to be clear and not weepy wet. I, did, recently read about the diet when the food has a lot of grain. That article suggested wellness core. It's about 3.50 a pound. Do you have a recommendation? How will I know when you publish this video? Also, maybe, hit on of all of the positives a poodle has why worry about this one thing? My thought it reminds me of a kid w a runny nose all of the time. For a therapy dog I feel she should always be clean looking. I have one more thought. Sort of sorry. I do not want my dog drained by certain types of clients. Another video I am sure. How much can a poodle handle? If she becomes drained and sleep during a session is that ok to let her sleep and still let a client pet on her? Maybe this is not in your wheelhouse. As far as therapy goes. Wanted to see if you were able to attempt it. Certain clients drain me. I am sure they woukd a dog. Thank you ahead of time. I will subscribe to your channel.

I am not sure about a toy poodle as a therapy dog, personally, I would not recommend it because they are small, fragile and companions. They want love, attention, affection and are prone to anxiety! We have had to work through it ourselves so we know... although I wouldn't recommend a toy poodle as a therapy dog there are other breeds who make for great therapy dogs I would look into those... if you are looking for a dog that will cuddle, with lots of energy and you can spend lots of time with then toy poodles are great! In this video, I am speaking on purebred poodles, not poodle mixes - mixed breeds can have different characteristics 😊 every dog has their own personality as well, and some will bark more than others! 🐾

They make for good watchdogs in the sense that they will always alert you when they hear or see something - in the video, I did not indicate that they are watchdogs for protecting the home or being big and fierce. Our Lambo is a great watchdog I always know someone is here before they knock or ring the doorbell! etc
