    TayolrMade R9 460cc driver is still a great driver for beginner/intermediate golfers. Great list though! I doubt I’ll get into collecting heads, but who knows. If my game improves to the point where I need every yard to be competitive, I’ll end up picking up every new club head for my driver…irons may be a different story, lol.

    Great video very entertaining. I was wondering? Will my M5 TM shaft fit other TM driver heads. You answered that right away for me . I'm considering buying a different TM head now . The M5 lost 😢 horribly. I long suspected this . Although my club head speed isn't above average. I think the few MPH I can gaine from newer tec is worth the upgrade. Not sure if SIM 2 or Stelth 2 is worth the difference in price 🤔

    Great test. I've had all the drivers from M1 to SIM2 and play an M5 Tour as it's consistently the best club for my swing. I liked the M5, although the Tour is a different beast for me. SIM2 comes VERY close; it's just too fade-bias for my liking. For your numbers I'd give the win to the M1; it's not faster yet very similar carry numbers and I'd assume that with a premium golf ball the Stealth2 would suffer a bit with very low spin on mishits (at which point carry would suffer and more hazards are potentially brought in to play), even if it may be longer overall due to roll-out. Just my opinion :) Cheers

    The test just shows how strike matters above all else, 3500+ rpm of spin is usually strike related, low and heel. Also, hard to really put much weight into it given the vastly different club head speeds, in some cases it looked to be 6 mph difference which is not realistic unless it is purely a confidence thing.

    I was tempted to buy the stealth 2 and replace my current sim 2 but ive only had the sim2 for 1 year and it hasn't let me down. I tested both the stealth 2 and sim 2 on both the simulator and course and i found them both very simulor and not one really out performing the other. Im keeping my sim2 dont see a point spending 600$ for a brand new driver for the same exact performance. But i will say the stealth 2 is deffinatly a big jump up from the stealth 1 since the previous model i found less forgiving.

  • @MaartenAnna
    @MaartenAnna Жыл бұрын

    Fun experiment! 👍 Not too surprising results really. Range balls spin about 15% more, so your strike really influences results. In order to combat that, you should hit about 10 balls center strike with each. Or, 5 center strikes, 5 heel strikes, 5 toe strikes, 5 high strikes, 5 low strikes & eliminate all other strikes, to average them out. But that would take 25-30 drives, multiplied by 8 driver heads, that’s 200-240 drives. That kinda session would tire you out all right. 😉 On a good day, with proper warm-up, you have about 30-40 good drives in you, so you did well out there. I tip my hat to you! By the way, I only hit 130-140mph ball speed with 90-95mph head speed, and 240-260yrds with normal balls, so I’m well impressed. 👍👍👍

  • @ilponho

    You must play on rock hard fairways to be getting 240-260 yards with 130-140mph ball speed.

  • @MaartenAnna

    @MaartenAnna

    Жыл бұрын

    @@ilponho Ok, then something is a bit off, as I hit my drives 220-240m with roll (about 240-260yrds), and on hot days, with hard conditions I get them 240-260m. Garmin R10 measures my driver headspeed at around 95mph, and my ball speed around 135mph, launch angle between 11 and 14 degrees, with a smash factor of about 1.45, spin between 1900-2500. I use the Honma TW-S as my gaming ball, perhaps that's ideally suited for my game? Dunno, but I'm pretty consistent with them, I hit about 80-85% fairways. And I even have the feeling I can get a bit more out of my drives even, as they kinda balloon up and drop out of the sky sometimes.

  • @ilponho

    @ilponho

    On Trackman my good drives (145-150mph) total at about 230-240 meters. Now that I think about it the difference to your ball speeds isn't really that much and your numbers could be valid on semi dry/dry fairways. On sticky fairways though your ball speed should never get you past 210 meters at sea level.

I know it would have impacted the face angle, but if you are comparing ball speed and distance vs accuracy, it seems like it would be important. The way you did it, one of the 4 oldest drivers had to make it to the finals. Still very interesting. I am with the others and would agree I'd want the best of all worlds - the longest, most forgiving, for the least money. I think for me out of these that is the SIM2.

    I think the difference in club head speed needed to be addressed. To me, that shows an inherent bias in your swing favoring the newer club. This probably has to do with you being more familiar with it compared to the other club heads. Driver technology and/or USGA regulations haven't advanced to allow for more distance in a while. If you can get a driver properly fit for you and dial in the weights etc you can still game an old driver.

    Not true at all I had my sim 2 for a year and it never did me wrong. It was a great jump from the m4 and felt more solid and gained a good 10-15 yards. I tried the stealth 2 on both the simulator and course and the results were almost identical. The sim 2 and stealth 2 are definitely a good jump up if your trying to upgrade. But I would go with the sim 2 to save yourself 250-300$. It may 'FEEL FASTER'', but the results were the exact same for me.

    7 years apart and the M1 is still keeping up. For the average golfer, there's zero difference between them, but where modern drivers will probably help is off centre hits over a season and strokes gained, but with that said, an M1 in the hands of someone who can learn to hit it and find a fairway can't be discounted.

    I have always been a callaway guy and I drive the ball like a single digit handicap but my second shot sucks stealth two not the plus not the hd just the stealth two blew my mind and I always thought taylor made was like a k mart club but stealth two with that carbon face man my second shot got a little better because I had a shorter club in my hand bottom line practice your chipping and putting if you want to lower your score.

    What do you think about Taylormade coming out with a driver every year? It seems like they waste a lot of money on minor achievements/gains. I think they would be better off switching to the 2 year cycle like Ping and Titleist. If you think about it, they’re probably already in production mode for the new driver/ other equipment before the PGA Championship in May. It doesn’t make sense to me. Let the players use the equipment for more than a few months before finalizing the design of the new equipment.

    I THINK you could add some serious distance to your drives if you weren't so far inside on your backswing / take-away. You might benefit from the drill in which you hold the club at perfect take-away, and swing from there.
