The 2017 Taylormade M1 is such a great combination of looks, feel, distance, forgiveness and ability to adjust. It's in my bag (and I think it is still one of the best drivers available for a large segment of golfers).

Same here! I got lucky that it worked so well for me after blindly buying the club because it was on sale at Roger Dunn. I immediately started hitting it very well and far! Everyone kept asking me what my club was which was a great feeling. I love my STZ

I liked that one but I couldn’t hit it well at all. Do pretty good with the G410 I got. I also really liked the stealth and it hit well. But not trying to spend that much and the carbon face worries me about durability.

I use a Ping G30 which I bought from eBay for £70. It’s very forgiving but now aged 67 I think it was the fact it had a senior flex shaft attached that made the biggest difference and allows me as a 20 handicapper just getting back into golf (stop playing through injury for 15 years) to hit some drives over 200 yards.

I use a Ping G425 (which I actually picked up from golfbidder) as I’d watched loads of reviews. I’ve been happy with it but am not the most consistent off the tee. Last week I played golf abroad and used a hire set, which had a Callaway Epic Driver, and I hit it long and straight again and again. Shows the benefit of really testing before buying and not always needing the newest to improve your game.

I had a M2 in the bag for a few years but switched to a Cobra F8 about 3 years ago. The M2 definitely sounded better, but the F8 has definitely helped with the off center strikes... As a born and bred Wisconsin boy, I sure hope that cow is ok!

The guys laughed at me today as I carried 7 drivers to the golf course. None of which were over 3 years old except for the driver that I currently use which is the Callaway XR 9.5 ... None of the newer drivers go any further than the XR and the XR is a fairway finder for me. The latest new driver I have is the Callaway Rouge max, 9 degree, stiff shaft, (all the drivers have the stiff shaft). I hate the sound of a carbon infused driver but could get used to it if I saw an advantage but like the Cobra, or Sim2 nothing beats the XR for me. I sold one of the Callaway Epic speed drivers today. Ping is to loud and sounds like I crack the face every time I hit it with a center strike ! So with the rules being the way they are for drivers I doubt we will see much improvement other than sounds and looks anytime soon.

I'm playing the M6 right now that I got 2 years ago second hand for $150. Just went to a fitting experience with Titleist, and they said that even though the new driver was a little more consistent, it doesn't outperform my current driver enough to warrant making the switch.

I play with a Ping G20 driver and three wood. I had a fitting recently and my pro said no point in changing them as I would only gain around 5 yards so just not worth it considering I’d recently been fitted for new irons which gave me over 20 yards gain in distances combined with my lesson.

Great content - the one factor I would add that should be considered when selecting a driver is desired shot shape - i.e. pick a head that can be opened or closed and is constructed to help you hit the shape you want to hit - i.e. those M1 & M2, in my opinion, are best if you like to hit pro-fades - I've owned them both and that is what they prefer. If you want to hit Draws, don't buy a low-spin head, etc, etc. We play a shop shape - find a club that helps.

I use the 2018 callaway rogue. I messed around with the setting myself and found the sweet spot in addition to cutting off 1.5 inches from the standard stiff shaft length. Bomb fairways 300+ fairly consistently. While playing baseball for 20 years helps me generate lots of swing force, it’s because of KZreadrs like yourself that have helped me fine-tune my game down into the 70s❤❤.

2018 Rogue is an absolute blessing of a club, how it doesn't get more mention when it honestly performs really similar to the new model blows my mind. The club is so damn forgiving, my miss-hit is a heel strike and I still bomb those 240m+ down the middle of the fairway with a slight fade.

I have always purchased used drivers around 2 or 3 years old. The major issue is getting fitted as the club professionals will fit you for a new club but none have the selection of used clubs available to test and check the numbers for. I bought a Cobra King Speedzone driver this year with a regular shaft since stiff doesn't fit me. It was a cheap driver since it's a several years old model at this stage, but I couldn't be happier with the results! The driver increased my distance in a ridiculous fashion and it's by far the best driver I've spent money on. It feels good to use, the sound it makes on a clean hit is incredibly satisfying and it even looks good! Plus, it's pretty forgiving. I'd say this driver alone is what made me lower my handicap with several notches this year thanks to the extra distance I got which made approach shots a lot more manageable. 👍

My handicap is 18.2. Back in the summer I went to a golf shop with a net and a launch monitor here in the Netherlands with the intention of buying a driver, but the pro there told me I should fix a flaw in my swing before buying one. I have a Cobra F9 at 9.5 degrees with a regular 46" shaft in it in the bag I have a TaylorMade M2, and a new (this year) M4 as fallback drivers. Set at 9 degrees both. Both of the TaylorMade clubs are great, and I hit them with accuracy, as they are pretty forgiving, but the F9 beats them both for length when my swing is working. Still, when it comes right down to it, my driver performance is limited more by me, than it is by any club in my hands.

I use a Callaway Sub Zero, being that I have a high launch swing I find that average drivers just spin up too much for me especially into the wind which lost me a lot of distance. Not for everyone as it can fall out of the air if hit with a slower swing speed but I love it to bits.

Just recently switch from the 2019 TaylorMade M2 with an Aldila NVS green shaft to the Callaway Rogue ST Max LS with a slightly heavier Tensei white shaft (65g). Gained about 15-20 yards off the tee, but more importantly my shot dispersion is now much tighter. I’ve always been a more wristy player so having that extra help to lower spin has been refreshing to see. Highly recommend both clubs.

Very helpful for those with lower budgets. I have a Big Bertha 816 Alpha DBD driver and matching 3 and 5 wood. I bought them used. They are very adjustable. The driver is one of the longest of its day (2016). It seems to hold up well against the new drivers. Because my driver club length is significantly longer than standard I removed the weight altogether and replaced the cap. I also bought lighter sole weights for the fairways. With the two (front and back) sole weights in the fairways I can adjust draw-fade bias. They are still about D-5. They are all X-flex. Top of the line used clubs are way better than new cheaper quality new clubs.

Great to see a review of recent rather than latest models. My thoughts are that since they've all maxed out COR nearly 10 years ago, all they can do now is improve forgiveness and play w spin. With new drivers at 600+ I usually wait to buy a driver thats 1 or 2 models prior, at a great price (currently Cal Epic Max (picked up for $130 in 2022)). I try the latest stuff but won't replace a club unless I can see an improvement on a launch monitor, which is getting harder to do. I don't have a brand loyalty and have 5 brands in the bag. Now, how about a video like this with irons? Mine are 8 yrs old and I can't find anything that outperforms them.

I upgraded last season to an LTDx LS from an old Nike Sumo. I didn't get fitted for it but felt like I knew my numbers well enough to make an educated guess on the shaft. The good news is that I'm driving it 15 yards longer on average. What I was really surprised with was how much ball speed is retained on off-center hits compared to the old driver. Of course, now I'm planning on taking it in to try some different shafts. I'm very happy with it but think that I might have it a little too stiff for my swing speed.

I am going back and forth right now between a Cobra Speedzone and a Titleist 917D2 - I was struggling with the big stick until I tried a 50g stiff Diamana shaft in the Titleist, started smoking most of my drives once I put in the lighter shaft. Have an Xcaliber T6+ shaft in the Cobra, think it is 73g, but the lighter shafts were not working in the Speedzone, once I put the stiffer heavier shaft in I got far better results. I love my Titleist, have complete confidence swinging that driver, but the Cobra gives me more distance on a center strike..... trying different weight combinations now to see what happens lol 19g in front and 12g in the rear position so far has proven best, but it is noticeably heavier than the Titleist driver. Lots to tinker with over the winter......

I've used the F9 that I got for cheap off Amazon a year and a half ago. It's pretty fantastic overall. This winter I'm going to invest in some lessons.

I tried treating myself and went for a cobra LTDX LS however I struggled with it and then I won the taylormade stealth, didn't get on with it but was really wanting to get on with it so went and got fitted for a shaft and still wasn't getting on with it. sold both drivers and bought My mates srixon X785 and I am absolutely smashing it

Still gaming a 2016 M2. 10.5 reduced to 9 degrees tried many different options, most recently the cobra ltdx. Still didn't knock my M2 off its perch.

I’ve got a M2 3 hybrid and it is a little gem to, doubt if any newer models would knock it off its perch either.

Cheers. I need a upgrade from my Callaway B.B 2. Can smash my driver about 280-300yds total with natural draw. I really like TS3, F9 and BB Fusion. Might grab all 3 and depending on the day, course and feel choose on the fly.

I'm rocking a speedzone extreme in Arctic white. I need bit of forgiveness being a 18 handicap but I get it out there and am confident with it in my hands.

I played a 915D3 for a few months before getting a TSr3. TSr3 is hotter and more forgiving but it was 10% of the TSr3. There are definitely killer deal gems out there.

Man oh man I would love to try all of those drivers but I am currently striking a Titleist TS1 and a Callaway Rogue blue. TS1 spends way more time in the bag

Currently use the 917D3 and have been on the lookout for a TS3 head, but it has been hard to find one that isn't smashed or way overpriced. Also, been interested in the G425max, but so are a lot of people based on the prices I've seen on those still. Of course, I'm sure if I did a fitting, probably none of those are right for me.

Loved this. I've been playing with Donnay clubs (I know) for the past 3 years after picking up some clubs from a relative. They must be about 25 years old but they're still in good condition. I'm really tempted by the Callaway GBB Epic.

The Taylormade M1 shown after the SLDR is from 2016, not ‘17. (Been playing the 430cc version for almost 5 years now.) The 2017 models have green accents, just to be accurate for everyone. 🤙

I'm still using my Ping G10. I've tried some new ones (even the 425) but G10 still has it. I have lost distance though but that could be just getting old. Only play once a week and managing to maintain my 8 handicap 😁

I've got a Titleist 915 D3. It's got a slighter smaller head so makes me concentrate more and not try to hit a Bryson. More middle hits , doesn't float up, and looks good. Second hand on ebay for £100 with upgrade shaft. Boom! 😁💣💥
