    I finally started reading again after over 10 years without reading one book cover to cover. I've now read 2 and am on my third this year. Started working out every single day, running on my off days. Quut drinking alcohol. I'm going to keep this up for 2022 and then for the rest of my life. Feels great Update: I'm down 40 lbs, I finally started working in the field I went to school for. My relationship is so much stronger, I'm much more present every single day. I'm happy and content. Taking a week off and I'm going to make sure to get some reading done! Everyone's messages of encouragement are so very much appreciated. Momentum mori, make today matter

    Im a 17 year old teenage girl, i very suddenly questioned my relationship and cycled into anxiety for days, but i finally understood i was scared of doing it, i was scared of showing up for myself. And yeah, that anxiety is still there, but this is the 2nd video of your's ive watched and they both really truly have helped me understand to keep moving forward, to focus on what you have now, and to just appreciate the current good you have, dont fret about when youll lose it because even if this relationship somehow lasts past high school, him or i will die, and i just have to appreciate the day to day.

    I am in a hotel room right now, I quit the old me. I am tired of other people having power over me, my life, my decisions, and who I want to be. Memento mori indeed.     I have been a Stoic for 55 years and didn't even know it was a defined ideal. My old employee mentioned that he thought I was one so I looked it up on Google and KZread. This channel came up first and I am so inspired by it. The memento Mori part I learned from Buddhists. This idea is also one of their practices. Still, I needed to be reminded after losing my job last year from ageism, turning 65, etc... it's not what happens to you in life but what you do with what happens. Thanks.

Amazing habits, easy to apply! 1 Practice and apply philosophy 2 Practice something creative to get your juices going 3 Go for a walk without your phone everyday 4 Make progress on 4/6 of your goals every single day 5 Serve the community, engage with the world 6 Practice an endurance sport a couple times a week 7 Cherish your loved ones 8 Read! Ryan's tips for reading are amazing, I wrote down don't read bad books and that the point of reading is to get better Last but not least: Memento Mori, remember we all will die and not to take everything so seriously!     its nice to have play in background time to time to retrigger it, after we slack down hehe we become even brainwashing about when we want to brainwahs or relax.. lol inceptions. for exemple when i go to work i mindset completly diferent, cause i cant be normal human with mentally ill people, and cant let their intense lifestyle affect me emotionaly, but then at home i can explode my personality, it become very strategic , logic, advantageous, to trigger on and off certain aspect. i cannot waste time not learning those diference and master them. as they give me surplus agility either at work or in hobies.. for music i want to be wild and free, at work i want to be empty solid robotic serious respected objectified , comfortable safe and easily recognised, for their narcism as im just an internal object. facinating to switch both extrem.. totally be yourself, totally be what is required-asked.

    Hey Ryan, I hope you feel great now. I learned about Stoicism 1 mounth ago. I started reading Marcus Aurelius-Meditations. It is the book that I liked very much and it changed my life of course. I became more diciplined, more patient and more active in social life. I also start to improve my english skills again two years later with this dicipline. I choose one of your videos for every week. I watch them many times in a day. This video is mine 2. Video and first one was 7 stoic strategies for being creative. It was awesome! I learned many things and I put in my life of course. After that, I started to make a little of progress on exercise, learning english, reading. And today’s one of my responsiblities was leaving a comment any video on youtube. I choosed this video because I wanted to tell you thank you and this video is choosen by me for the week. Here is the sentence that i loved. You could be good today instead you choose tomorrow M.A. Take care!

    I do most of these already but the consistency part got me. I've been playing guitar for almost 15 years now and my only rule is every time I play I get just a tiny bit better. Every time though and it really does add up over weeks, months, years... Beautiful

    Today was a rough day. Starting late December I started reading first thing in the morning (even if just one page) qnd writing in my journal (even if just one sentence). My mood and outlook improved immensely. This morning I had a shitty sleep. I think I have covid (entire family has it) and slept like shit and woke up feeling worse. I was able to succeed- some reading and journaling done today.

    I repeatedly hear people say they wish there was a manual for living life. Many believe this guidance lies in the Bible but most don’t have the patience to read any books let alone scripture.     The Memento Mori bit hit me. Since having COVID in early January, I've had anxiety and have been getting into my own head. All I've been doing is overthinking stuff, "When will this go away?" "Is there something wrong with me??" I've been checked by doctors, I've been reassured I'm fine, but still, I dwell on the thought of being anxious. It's led to being anxious about having anxiety, which sounds silly. It's hard to understand until you go through it, but if you are, just realize that they are all thoughts. Your brain is more powerful than anything. YOU control your thoughts, they don't control you. Don't dwell on things. It's easier said than done, but live in the present moment. Memento Mori, you will die. That applies to whatever you're going through as well. It will NOT last. It will go away. Embrace whatever it is, don't fight it. Accept it and grow on it. Don't look for a quick answer, look for patience and focus on the long-term process.

    I was thinking about writing a comment under this video but I couldn’t have put it better myself with what you’ve put here buddy, felt the exact same for a while in terms of covid and the current climate but really couldn’t come to terms with why my mind was so set on creating anxious thoughts. Definitely going to start using the phrase more, feels like I’ve already had a small weight lifted just understanding it a bit more!

    @@TreFlip278 For sure man, just know you're not alone and that it happens to everyone at one point. Just take it day by day and understand that it is a process. Here's some tips that have helped me out a TON on getting better. 1) Go to sleep and wake up at the same time every day (have a general daily routine as well), 2) If you feel it coming on, accept it and focus on breathing/or meditate. 3) Occupy your mind, an empty mind is the devil's playground.

    Exactly and so what if any of us die cuz of COVID? Nonetheless life is just a journey and it can potentially end any time. There is not an absolute right way to live life and really nothing to be scared about. We are all life long learners too. Embrace in the beauty of this world really, there's such a limited amount of time to be fearful of anything, as you can literally be fearful for your whole life. Therefore be fearless, be an explorer, be a learner, utilize your limited time to go on a seamless and never-ending exciting adventure of life.

(i.e. as in a doorbell). Ryan I just want to say I think these lessons are really great. Few are both knowledgeable and bold enough to read Meditations. If I may, I would like to add to lesson 6: Cherish your Loved Ones. I recently lost someone that I knew very well, but would not necessarily consider a "loved one." She was an ex-girlfriend turned friend, and through 5 years of knowing her, I just sort of started taking her for granted. After her loss, I was deeply saddened, WAY more than I'd expected (more than some of my other family members). What I learned is that first, this is not limited to just family, it can be any connection. Connections are all we have in life, and it can be so easy to take someone for granted. Second, it's very possible your conscious mind doesn't know how impactful this connection really is, so be grateful for their existence, even if you feel mad at them. Third (from other deaths as well), the way a person dies, as in the when and the how, greatly impacts that person's legacy, and possibly even unfairly. Also Lesson 8, on reading, I would add watch KZread everyday. There is so much to gain from this majestic technological improvement to life. Some books may provide more value upon reading them, but is it so crazy to think that watching a well-designed visual summary would be more beneficial to one's life than wrestling with a work such as Faust? If the person is artistic (and fluent in German), then perhaps not, but there's always the element of life practicality, a key priority for stoics.

    To me, Memento Mori means maintaining your level-headedness at all times - in both good times and in bad. It means not getting too high in good times and not getting too low in bad times. Of course, we're all human and it is human to feel and express emotions. However, memento mori helps keep those emotions in check ✅️

    I heard a saying one time that always stuck with me and it turns people off because they think its morbid but I had no idea about the actual philosophy that backs it up....the saying was "dont take life too seriously, nobody makes it out alive anyway"

    Little changes everyday leads to bigger progress than most people can even fathom. Most adults have an hour in the evening they could devote to something or anything everyday and over a year or five or twenty you could literally master an entire subject or learn countless new skills or learn new things about yourself and family. Never discount what can be done easily when spread over a lifetime
